Tejas Camp Seeks Community Input

Tejas is inviting the community to help them name their new cottages. Their vision is to bring each resident closer to God’s story through the names we choose. They are selecting six inspiring women from the Bible to represent each cottage. A plaque inside each cottage will share the store, fostering continued discipleship for all who stay there. Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be hosting their Mother and Daughter Weekend Getaway on April 5-7. This is a great opportunity for mothers and daughters (ages 8-18) to build on their relationship while creating great memories to last a lifetime. Tejas is having a Serve Day on Saturday. April 6. This is an opportunity for the community to come out and assist the camp with some projects. There are projects for all skill levels and meals are included. Contact the camp for more information.

Knox Memorial Scholarship 

Applications are now being accepted for The Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship. This is a four year academic based scholarship for an incoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2024. Applications are due May 1 and are available from the school or from Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday April 18 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of Bingo, Dominoes and board games are offered.

Good Friday Bake Sale 

Faith Lutheran High School will be hosting their Annual Good Friday Bake Sale on March 29 at the Classic Bank parking lot in Giddings. Cookies, pies, cakes, kolaches, cinnamon rolls, homemade noodles, bread and more will be available from 8 a.m. until sold out. Donations of items are needed to help make this event a success. Donations of baked items can be dropped off Wednesday and Thursday at the high school or Medack and Oltmann in Giddings or at Schiavone and Bamsch in La Grange. Contact the high school at (979) 242-2889 to make other arrangements, if needed. Items can also be brought to the bake sale on the day of sale.

Scholarship Fundraiser Serbin 4-H will have their annual Fried Chicken Scholarship Fundraiser on Sunday. April 7 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Serbin picnic grounds. Tickets are $15. Contact the church office to purchase tickets (979) 3669650. 

Warda Bunch Show Fund 

The Warda Bunch Show Fund (supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors) will have a BBQ Pork Fundraiser on Saturday, April 13. BBQ pork butts will be sold by the piece. Each piece will be approximately 2.5-4 lbs. for $10.50/ lb. Cups of sauce will be available for $3 each. Order by the number of pieces you would like (not by the pound). Call the church office at (979) 2423333 to place your order by April 3. Pick up will be at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds from 4-6 p.m.

St.PaulLutheranSchool-Serbin 

St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin is now accepting applications for new families who wish to enroll for the first time for the 2024-2025 school year. Contact the school at (979) 366-2218 for more information. 

Bluff Creek Ranch

Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda has bike riding trails that are open every day from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. They also offer primitive camping spots. May 19 is the Warda Race all day. Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Wednesday night Bible Study at Holy Cross Lutheran is taking a break during Lent and will resumeApril 3 at 6:30 p.m. This covers the book of 2nd Samuel, which discusses the reign of David. The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. This covers the book “Has American Christianity Failed?” by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. Everyone is invited. Please call the church office at (979) 242-3333 to request a copy of the book for the low price of $9.
