In this monthly series, local realtor Andrea Schutter Riebeling does a Q & A with local business leaders about what inspires them. This month’s interview is with La Grange native Taylor (Toddy) Bigon.

1.) What is your business?

My name is Taylor Bigon and I am the founder of Taylored Ink Co. Specializing in Medical Tattooing & Permanent Makeup. Taylored Ink’s vision is to help women and men in regaining confidence and self-esteem, feeling whole and complete after a traumatic experience, enhancing their natural beauty and features, reclaiming control over their bodies, all while enjoying a luxurious and pampering experience

2.) How did you get started? I started as a hairstylist, and that exposed me to so many different trades in the beauty industry! I found permanent makeup and fell in love with it. Permanent makeup tattooing eventually led me to medical tattooing.

3.) How long have you been in business? Since 2015 4.) Is this a Family or Female business? It is a femaleowned business.

5.) What kind of service do you provide? 3-D areola tattooing, permanent makeup(eyebrows), teeth whitening, brow waxing and tinting, lash, lifting, and tinting, henna and brow lamination.

6.) Tell me something unique about your business?

We do accept insurance and work with financial aid institutions so that our areola tattoo patients do not have to pay out-of-pocket.

7.) What is your background? I graduated from La Grange High School and went to a private hair school in Austin called Baldwin Beauty School. I did hair for four years and then began doing permanent make up in 2018, which led me to medical tattooing, which I began in the beginning of 2023.

8.) What do you suggest to others who want to venture out and take a leap of action in the future of their career? There are so many different ways to make money. Being open minded and willing to learn any craft no matter how bizarre it sounded is what lead me to being able to tattoo a 3D Areola. If you would have told me my senior year of high school that I was going to be a tattoo artist and my specialty would be nipples, I would have never believed it.

9.) Do you believe in college, trade school, or any training? I believe in it all. But I don’t think trade school should ever be held to a lower standard. If you have a skill you want to learn, whether that be law, welding, tattooing, makeup, or surgery i think you should go do it full throttle. Regardless of your age, your past or what your peers’ opinions may be. Go get it done and be good at it!

10.) How did you decide to make Schulenburg your home? La Grange is my home. I grew up here. The family environment has been a huge part of my decision in making it a home for my business. I left once and went to Austin thinking I wanted to be able to market to a larger crowd and had immediate regrets. Fayette County is my support system. There’s so much support throughout the year for businesses. From the Best of Fayette County awards to interview opportunities like this. There seems to always be someone ready to hold a spotlight for a local business. There’s also a lot of support between businesses. When one of us has a grand opening or an event, the others are showing up to support, sharing it on social media, and donating to the event. It’s really special.
