Tapley Honored By American Legion

On Feb. 12, at the recent regular meeting of the H J Ehlers Post 102 of The American Legion in La Grange, recently retired Colonel Lori Tapley visited the Post with her proud parents, Ray and Twyla Thurman, where she was recognized for her faithful and honorable service to our country in the United States Army.

Colonel Lori Tapley recently retired after 25 years and seven months of service in the U.S.Army Nurse Corps. She received her Masters from The Unified Services University at Bethesda Naval Hospital resulting in her becoming a “Family Nurse Practitioner.”

In 2005 and 2006, Lori deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She also was stationed in Germany for 8½ years. She held various command positions at Fort Meade, Md., Fort Gordon, Ga., Fort Sam Houston, Baumholder, Germany, and Landstuhl Army Hospital, Germany. Her favorite command was over a group of army surgeons and medical personnel on a humanitarian mission to Honduras for the purpose of providing correction procedures on children with birth defects.
