    Street Work Continues in Fayetteville

The City of Fayetteville is continuing with street repairs and improvements. The majority of our streets were repaired and resurfaced in 2021. Those that were not are scheduled to be repaired and resurfaced this year. Fayette County and County Commissioner Luke Sternadel make it possible to keep our roads in good condition, allowing for the availability of equipment and manpower. The City of Fayetteville provides materials.

City Councilman Neal Doty explains, “A fixed portion of our sales tax income is dedicated to the streets and the safety of this town. Funds are being allocated for additional street repair projects that are projected for completion this year and next. If we have not repaired and improved your street, we should within the next two years. Safety is of great concern. We have discussed speed limits, especially those around our school and the baseball field and we hope to get the cooperation of Tx-Dot to lower some of those speed limits and from DPS in enforcing the posted speed limits. We encourage everyone to be more aware of the speed limits and to voluntarily help us keep our city safe.”

Catechumens

Recently, the parishes of St. John and St. Mary sent four catechumens (those who have been preparing to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist in the Catholic Church this Easter), to the Diocese of Austin Rite of Election, where the Bishop welcomed about 400 catechumens from throughout the diocese. After the Rite of Election, they are called “the elect,” since they have been elected by the church to become members.
