On Easter Sunday the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church will be hosting a 7 a.m. Sunrise service at their new church with coffee and doughnuts following. They also will be having their regular service at 10 a.m.

Everyone is more than welcome to come and join in either service. The Sunrise service will be a perfect time for everyone to come early and check out this new congregation in the community. There also is an Easter egg hunt planned for after the regular church service. This hunt will be for everyone of all ages, including the adults.

Come out and see what all the excitement is about at this wonderful new church gathering. It is so exciting to see a church planting in the community. The men and women of the Stray Gathering have been very hard at work painting, cleaning, and sprucing up what was the old Methodist Church. They have breathed life back into this house of God. Take time to come and see what is happening and join in the excitement.

Birthday Celebrations

This week has been full of birthday celebrations. Kathy Chlumsky traveled to the big city of Austin to celebrate with her younger daughter, Summer Smith, for Summer’s birthday. They enjoyed a great mother/daughter day with a birthday lunch at an Italian restaurant and then they did some shopping. The bonus for Kathy was the chance to spend some time with the grandkids, Olivia and Marcus.

James and I went to Austin to pick up our grandson, Ira James Ivy and his mom, Jenny Clair to bring them back to John and Debra Schwartzenburg’s home to celebrate Ira’s first birthday. He had a blast meeting so many family members, Bluebonnet pictures, a tour of the old Speed homestead and just being out in the country. Coming in for the party were cousins: Jennifer and Clay Rightmer; Lauren Wetjen and daughter Nola; Great Aunt Judy Jordan of LaVernia and traveling all the way from Houston, Julia Speed.

Out and About

Ron and Pam Knotts were on the road again recently, this time to East Texas. They were invited to see the property recently purchased by their older son and his wife, Kelly and Cindy Knotts. Kelly designed a barndominium and has been working on it for almost a year. Kelly did the water and electricity along with most of the interior finishing work. The family recently moved in and loves country life. Granddaughter Gabrielle was home from college and Ron and Pam enjoyed catching up with her for the first time since COVID. They got to see some of her beautiful photography of nature. Lots of her pictures are hanging in the new home. Granddaughter Madeline was attending a concert with friends and so they will have to catch her another time. Kelly has been very busy on the place working on roads and landscaping with his new tractor. Cindy meanwhile has been busy setting up lots of feeding stations for all the neighborhood wildlife. Ron and Pam are thrilled to see this new adventure taking shape for their son and his family.

Nancie Blair, Tricia Grieste and myself took off last week on a great adventure, The Bluebonnet Shop Hop. We spent two full days hitting all eight of the shops on the hop and even caught a couple extra along the way. We started at Austin Sewing in Round Rock, hit a shop in Austin, Buda, Luling and San Antonio before stopping in San Antonio for the night. We then hit two more shops in San Antonio before rounding out our hop in Gone Quilting in Bandera. The two extra shops got slipped in, one in McQueenie that caught our eye and then the Quilt Haus in New Braunfels as we made our way home. It was fun and we have lots of projects to get done with all the stash we came home with.

Road Work

The county has been upgrading and improving the “streets” of Muldoon. All the work will be greatly appreciated by those who have to travel on them. It is an improvement that was much needed. Please use lots of patience if you need to get by the equipment in going around a train.
