Stray Gathering Cowboy Church to Host Spring Turkey and Clay Shoot
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is very busy this spring. If you drive by on any Sunday morning you will find the parking lot full and see lots of people who have come out to worship together in a true country setting.
Coming up on Sunday, March 30 they will be hosting the award-winning Christine Scott for the Sunday morning services followed by “Sunday Vittles.” Come out and enjoy some wonderful Christian music, then stay for a pot luck lunch. Bring along your favorite dish to share and enjoy some fun and wonderful fellowship with a great group of local people.
Other SG2C events that are coming up are a Spring Turkey & Clay Shoot on April 12. On Good Friday, April 18 there are plans for a Movie Night at SG2C; a prayer vigil is planned for April 19 followed by Easter Sunrise services and an egg hunt. So make sure you start marking that April calendar up to attend some of these great gatherings in downtown Muldoon.
Boehnke Obituary
Muldoon native, Lillie Mae Boehnke passed away on Sunday, March 9. Lillie Mae was born and lived the majority of her life in Muldoon on the Boehnke Ranch. She was the daughter of Herman and Annie Boehnke and one of six siblings and was the last of those to pass away.
Lillie Mae was a quiet and very sweet little lady who enjoyed spending time with her extended family and participating in the annual 4th of July parade in Muldoon. She was living in Schulenburg the last few years of her life, where she got to enjoy playing bingo, quilting, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Even then she was able to travel back to Muldoon for family gatherings and enjoy doting on the babies as the Boehnke family grew the next generations.
Miss Lillie Mae leaves behind her two nephews, Devon and Harold Boehnke, who had cared for her along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton beginning at 10 a.m. Ms. Lillie Mae was ninetyfive- year-old.
Attend Wedding
James and I attended the wedding of Ryan Hobbs and Randee Williams in New Braunfels. It was a beautiful venue wedding, the Gruene Estates, that took place in an open-air church on the grounds at sunset. Even though the evening turned cool with the breezes picking up after dark it was a wonderful wedding with the reception being held there on the grounds. Ryan is the son of Melanie and Demitri Hobbs, and the grandson of Sam and Barbara Wetjen.
Out and About
Nancie Blair got a chance to have lunch with her grandson Kelley Schick in Houston. While there the two enjoyed running some errands all while catching up with what had been happening recently.
Beth and Jack Field came in from Magnolia to visit Beth’s dad, Devon Boehnke; daughter Erica Field; and sister and brother-in-law Dana and Darrell Kulak for the weekend.
Cold Mornings
The mornings in Muldoon have been on the cool side recently. One morning in particular the thermomotor registered 31 degrees. Seems the cold mornings may have not passed just yet. The breezes do make the temperatures feel cooler. The afternoons have been warming up into the eighties. The warmer days has brought on the grass growth and this has lead to many having to begin the mowing season. Neighborhood Watch
Muldoon is still a small community and we all have to watch out for each other. Take time and check on your neighbors. With the wild swings in temperature colds and crazy allergies are sure to have some down. Give them a call and see if they are doing ok. Some of the senior neighbors might need some help grabbing some groceries or maybe a little help with something around the place.
While out and about be sure and keep your eyes open for strangers, vehicles that don’t belong or anything odd at your neighbors’ place. If you see something out of place, give them a call and let them know. This is a very easy way to help keep Muldoon safe.
