“We have a serious stray cat issue in Fayetteville and ask that residents find them and have them neutered,” stated Mayor Stroup. “A small group of concerned citizens are working on a solution.”

ARTS 

Join ARTS for the opening of their annual Emerging Artists Competition and Exhibition this Saturday afternoon showcasing the exceptional creativity of students in grades six through 12.

The opening reception is at the ARTS Ross Gallery from 1-3 p.m., with the presentation of awards at 2 p.m.

Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entrants in each grade level with an overall “Best in Show.” The exhibition will remain open to the public through Saturday, Aug. 31.

ARTS wishes to extend a special thank you to Arne and Mary Le Johnson, for their generous sponsorship of this competition.

Song Swap 

The Song Swap at ARTS Gallery is always going on the first Sunday of every month from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Come hear a rotation of great musicians. This Sunday, Mike Stroup will be tearing it up with local singer-songwriter Laura Mazoch. Tip opportunities are available for the musicians and for support of ARTS. Some beverages are available or BYOB. The admission is free of charge.

Music 

The Airplane Band is set to play country, rock, blues, Czech, German, and Cajun tunes on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 - 11 p.m. at Heh Remember When. The band features musicians Mason Dykowski, Alvin Minarcik, Franklin Hruska and Josh Gertson. Heh Remember When is located at 3031 N. FM 1291 in Fayetteville.

Lake Fayette 

Wi-Fi and new TVs have been installed at Lake Fayette Park Prairie. Enjoy the summer special: book for two nights and get 50% off the second night.

Church News 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 - 9:45 a.m.
