Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum Participating in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play Sept. 28

The Stanzel Museum is proud to announce their participation in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play on Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This global play event is presented by Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums.

This day is dedicated to creating and providing hands on learning experiences while children are at play. Through meaningful play experiences children practice social skills, develop their gross and fine motor skills and exercise creative thinking.

“Play is a powerful experience that enriches people’s lives in museums, schools, homes, and beyond,” states Arthur G. Affleck, III, executive director of the Association of Children’s Museums. “ACM is pleased to partner with Nickelodeon on amplifying the importance play has on healthy brain development, and to make learning more effective and joyful for everyone. As children’s museums, we believe in the power of play, and we strive to nurture more play and playful learning everywhere we go.”

Victor and Joe Stanzel created the Stanzel Family Foundation to give back to the communities of Schulenburg and Weimar in the greatest way they could, by promoting education and health. Model airplanes were so much more than a hobby for the Stanzel brothers. They loved the science of flight and sought to share that fascination with as many people as possible, especially children. We know Victor and Joe would be so proud to see and hear children exploring science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts right here in the airplane hangar designed Stanzel museum!

Local community resource and partner, Parents As Teachers of Rural South Central Texas will be facilitating each learning-play station. A PAT educator will lead both children and adults in fun and engaging S.T.R.E.A.M activities.

Join the fun and explore aviation concepts, the principles of flight, build with magnet tiles and Legos and create colorful works of art!

Our World: Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative to inspire kids and provide them with tools to activate their individual and collective agency. As part of a network of more than 300 ACM member children’s museums who reach millions of families in North America, and the more than 1,000 museums participating in Museums for All, a national access initiative that ACM manages, Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum is a vital collaborator in the Our World: Worldwide Day of Play.
