Recently Stan Cerny, a 95-year-old native of Praha and Korean War Veteran, was chosen to be part of Austin Honor Flight #92.

Robin Cerny wrote us to tell us about what “an amazing experience it was for my Father-in-law, Stan Cerny, and my husband (who was his guardian on the trip) Gary Cerny. The organization calls it “the trip of a lifetime” and that is exactly how Stan would describe it.

“I hope that you will be able to put this in this week’s paper to educate other veterans in our community about this all expenses paid opportunity for them.”

Here’s some more information from Robin: The application can be found on the Honor Flight Austin website. It’s a two-day, one-night DC experience to see the war memorials and service memorials - all expenses paid. The flight left from Austin Bergstrom Airport.

The group received an incredible “welcome” and “send off” from Austin and DC airports Veterans who served prior to 1975 are eligible Robin Branecky was instrumental in facilitating this opportunity for Stan Cerny.

This was Austin’s 92nd honor flight; they have been flying eight trips a year since 2012. It is all volunteer run.

The entire trip was very efficiently run with doctors, paramedics, safety specialists and other valuable personnel accompanying the group “No detail was left untouched! It was incredible,” Robin said.
