St. Paul-Serbin Students Hear About ‘Ptaci kwas’

St. Paul Serbin 7th and 8th grade classes will have a stew lunch fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 5. Pick up will be at the drive-thru of First National Bank in Giddings. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church office. Proceeds go to their class trip to Washington DC this summer.

Valentine’s Dinner

Tickets are now on sale for the Holy Cross Youth Group Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday Feb. 11. This will be held in the church Fellowship Hall. There are a limited number of tickets available and are on sale until Feb. 5 or until sold out. Seating will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

The meal will consist of choice of creamy chicken bacon ranch pasta or spaghetti with meat sauce, garden salad, garlic bread and cheesecake with toppings, tea, water and coffee will be served.

This fundraiser will benefit youth attending the Higher Things Conference this summer in San Antonio. Tickets are $25 per person and are available in the church office.

Super Bowl Bake Sale

The Ladies at Holy Cross in Warda will have a Super Bowl Bake Sale on Sunday Feb. 12. The bake sale will be held in the new narthex at the church and the proceeds will go towards an upcoming scholarship program.

Warda Bunch Luncheon

The Warda Bunch (supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors) will have their organizational/ appreciation luncheon at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds on Sunday, Feb. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. The committee will furnish fried chicken and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to complete the meal. Rabbs Creek Wildlife Rabbs Creek Wildlife As-sociation is scheduled to meet again on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Social will start at 4 p.m. meeting at 5 p.m. and a meal to follow. Please make sure all deer are measured prior to the meeting. You are welcome to bring a snack or dessert to share.

BBQ Chicken

South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will barbecue chickens on Sunday. Feb. 26. Pick up is from 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Chickens are $12 each, sauce is $2 and 16 oz. cups of potato salad, pinto beans and noodles are $3 each. Deadline to order is Monday, Feb. 20. Orders can be placed by calling the church office at: (979) 242-3333.

Hamburger Fundraiser Trail Life Troop 143 will hold their annual drive-thru hamburger fundraiser on Monday March 6 at the K.C. Hall in Giddings. Tickets are $10 each and include a hamburger with the fixings, chips, drink and homemade dessert.

Tickets can be purchased at the Holy Cross Church Office by calling (979) 2423333. Tickets are pre-sale only and must be purchased by Friday, Feb. 24.

Wednesday Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study Group meets each week at 7 p.m. They are currently studying the book of Judges. There is no cost to join. Contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com for more information.

Baptism

Mathilda Jean Smith was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran on Sunday, Jan. 28. Mathilda is the daughter of Matthew and Sami Smith.

Holy Cross Services Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Ash Wednesday Service will be held Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Faith Lutheran High

The Faith Lutheran High School Spring Raffle tickets will be available starting Feb. 5. Tickets are $20 each and are available from any student, staff or call (979) 242-2889. Drawing will be the week of March 6-10, during National Lutheran Schools Week.

FLHS firmly believes that every family desiring a Christ-centered education for their children should have the opportunity to attend FLHS. There is a Tuition Scholarship Program available and every family who applies, through TADS, will receive some assistance.
