St. Paul Lutheran School Hosting Community Open House

St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin is hosting a Community and New Family Open House on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The school is located at 1578 County Road 211 Giddings. They offer a loving, caring and Christ-centered atmosphere full of academic success. They invite you to tour the school, view the small class sizes and discuss all that St. Paul Serbin has of offer to your child.

Super Bowl Snack/Bake Sale The Ladies Aid of Holy Cross will host their annual Super Bowl Snack and Bake Sale on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the Narthex of the church. Stop by for some yummy goodies for the game. All proceeds will go towards travel expenses for the convention.

Warda Bunch Luncheon The Warda Bunch, supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors, will have their organizational/ appreciation luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. The committee will furnish fried chicken and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Annual Valentine’s Dinner The Youth Group at Holy Cross will host their Annual Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15. The fellowship hall will be transformed into “Cupid’s Café” where an enjoyable meal will be served by the amazing youth. The menu includes mocktails, charcuterie-on-a-stick, hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, garden salad and dessert. Seating is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and available from any youth member or the church office until Feb. 10. Call (979) 2423333 to purchase tickets for this event.

Rabbs Creek Wildlife 

Rabbs Creek Wildlife Association will meet on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Social will start at 4 p.m. and the meeting will be held at 5 p.m.

BBQ Chickens 

The South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will have BBQ chickens on Sunday, Feb. 23 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds from 10 a.m.noon. The barbecue is to-go only. Chickens are $12 each, and 16 oz. cups of sauce, potato salad, pinto beans and noodles are $3 each. You can call (979) 366-9650 to place your order.

Pork Steak Fundraiser 

The Holy Cross Youth Group will hold their Annual Pork Steak Fundraiser on Sunday, March 9. Drive thru only at the picnic grounds will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Plates are $15 each and include pork steak, green beans, noodles and corn. Tickets are presale only by Thursday, Feb. 27 and may be purchased from the church office, Chevron in La Grange, First National Bank in Giddings or from any youth member. There will also be a bake sale for a freewill donation.

Wednesday Night Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is studying 2nd Kings. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in participating, please contact Cyndy Zoch to receive a study guide. Her contact email is: cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church). The quilts they make benefit Orphan Grain Train, Lutheran World Relief, and various Volunteer Fire Department area fundraisers. They average 80-100 quilts a year. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group in cutting, arranging, sewing as assembling/tying quilts. Game Day at Holy Cross The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Melcher Baby Born 

Gary and Diane Becker announce the birth of their grandson, Hudson Charles Melcher, born to Abby (Becker) and Chesston Melcher on Jan. 24. Excited to welcome Hudson home is his big sister, Scarlett and great-grandma Carol Lehmann.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

There is also an 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Bible Study Group.

Transfiguration Sunday is March 2.
