The St. Nicholas Ministry is providing for needy children, their families and the elderly in Colorado and Fayette Counties needs your assistance. Staff members of churches, public and parochial schools, Texas Department of Human Services, Parents as Teachers, Boys & Girls Club of Champion Valley, Hospice, Senior Citizens, food pantries, and other helping agencies can refer persons or families to the ministry who are legitimately in need. Forms for referral are available at this time. The ministry makes every effort to assist persons who are truly in need.

The ministry is also in need of volunteers—adults and youth—to assist in putting together the boxes of food, wrapping gifts and making deliveries to homebound persons. To make a referral or sign up to help with preparation and distribution, contact: Pastor Herb Beyer at (361) 798-0155 or e-mail: beyerfam@ hughes.net or Sandy Pesak at (979) 249-7121 or e-mail: sandeykayp@hotmail.com.

Area businesses like Dollar General, Brookshire Brothers, and Walmart in Columbus have boxes decorated and labeled St. Nicholas Ministry so that shoppers can purchase non-perishable food items and new toys for needy children, their families, and the elderly. It is so good to work with such partners who truly care about persons in our area who are struggling. By working together through the St. Nicholas Ministry, we are able to make Christmas brighter and more joyful. Churches, schools and organizations are encouraged to collect food and toys for the St. Nicholas distribution.

Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, in Weimar serves as the central location for Colorado and Fayette County collection, preparation and distribution of gifts. Persons and groups can bring gift items to Faith Lutheran Church. Call to arrange a drop off time for bringing items to Faith ahead of time. The distribution of food and gifts will be made in December and recipients will be notified of date and time for pick up. The distribution of food and gifts will be done at Faith in Weimar which serves as a central location. Persons receiving gifts must have an approved referral form for this year on file.

Monetary donations are appreciated. Please make checks payable to FAITH—St. Nicholas Ministry (for Colorado and Fayette Counties) and mail to P.O. Box 216, Weimar, Texas 78962. Such donations enable us to purchase needed items. St. Nicholas Ministry has been reaching out to the needy in the tri-county area for 35 years—providing food, new toys, blankets or quilts, and other needed items.

If you have any questions or want to help in some way, do not hesitate to call or email Pastor Herb Beyer or Sandy Pesak. Thank you for being a blessing to others through the St. Nicholas Ministry during this holy season.
