St. Mark’s Earn Award for Lab Services
St. Mark’s Medical Center (St. Mark’s) has met all the criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA Inc., and earned two-year accreditation to provide quality service to its patients.
COLA Inc. is a leading national laboratory accreditor whose program and standards enable clinical laboratories and staff to meet United States Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and other regulatory requirements.
“Our lab team provides a vital service to our community,” said Mark Kimball, President and CEO of St. Mark’s. “Routine and diagnostic lab services play a critical role in helping doctors determine diagnosis and treatment, from complicated to routine tests and screenings. And having the convenience of local lab services for patients and their families is a game changer for many of our residents who don’t need to otherwise travel for their health care,” Kimball continued.
Through a mentoring approach using education to improve quality and patient safety, accreditation is given to laboratories that apply the highest standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey.
