St. John Annual Roast Beef Dinner Sunday
The St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger will be holding its 20th Annual Roast Beef and Sausage Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 9. This will be a drive thru/ plates to go only event. Plates may be picked up from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be $14 per person.You are urged to purchase your tickets in advance; a limited amount of tickets will be available on the day of the event. You can get tickets in advance at Koehl’s Portable Buildings, from Sharon Fritsch – (979) 966-3515; Gladys Koehl – (979) 966-7951, or any church member. The meal is being catered by Peters BBQ of Ellinger.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.
Class of 1965 Reunion Held
The 1965 Senior Class of La Grange High School held its 57h class reunion on Saturday, Oct. 1. Approximately 50 members and spouses attended the event. Classmates gathered at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse in West Point. Festivities got underway at 11 a.m. with a photo session and a social hour. About noon, Tom Kubena called the group to order and welcomed all. Ron Kaiser said the blessing before the catered meal of BBQ brisket, ribs, and chicken along with all the trimmings. Peters BBQ of Ellinger catered the delicious meal. Kubena lead a class meeting following the meal. Deceased classmates were recognized as well as military, medical, and first responder classmates. The group agreed to hold the next reunion at the La Grange Country Club in October in three years (the 60th). There was a door prize drawing and group picture. Ron Kaiser gave the closing prayer. Attending from Ellinger were Carolyn and Larry Bartosh, and Tom Kubena.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Ellinger C of C The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center.
Ellinger VFD The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department will drill on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at the La Grange Fire Station. Training will include electrical hazards, downed power lines, overhead power line hazards, underground power line hazards, solar energy, pole and grass fires, and electric vehicles. This first responder training session will be presented by Fayette Electric Coop.
76th Birthday Celebration Larry Bartosh celebrated his 76th birthday on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Karisch residence in Rutersville. A shrimp boil was enjoyed out on the patio. The family sang the birthday song and enjoyed a chocolate dream cake decorated with fall foliage.
St. John Quilting Group The St. John Rutersville Quilting group recently made some donations of the lovely items. Margie Stardig and Carol Bigott delivered ten quilts to Hospice Valley, and five quilts were donated to Sally Garrett, Fayette County AgriLife Extension Agent, for the Rainbow Room. Ladies of the church piece the quilts, sew them together, and quilt them monthly. The next scheduled session will be Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the Rutersville Fellowship Hall.
SLM Parking at Fall Show The Fall Antique Fair is upon us once again. The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County has scheduled parking and bake sale dates. St. John Ellinger will be parking cars on Oct. 17 and 18; St. Paul Fayetteville on Oct. 24 and 25; and Warrenton all other dates. Rutersville WELCA will sponsor a bake sale on Oct. 15, Ellinger Oct. 20 and 21; Fayetteville Oct. 22 and 23; and Warrenton Oct. 27, 28, and 29. Volunteers are always welcomed to help man the food booth at the Warrenton Church. If interested contact Megan Buro.
