Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) proudly presents “A Splash of Color,” featuring the works of Mary Quiros and her students: Kathy Callaway, Martha Jane Dennis, Kathy Griffith, Judy Elias Hill, Darcia Mucha, Kathy Sauer, Arna Schabloski, and Bernie Scott. While each artist brings their own unique perspective to the medium, their collective passion is evident throughout each of the watercolor paintings showcased in the exhibition.

This group of Fayetteville artists paint together every week under the instruction of Mary Quiros, whose mentorship has played a pivotal role in their artistic development. “All my students have a zeal and a great devotion to their painting,” Mary says. “I have enjoyed watching their progress through the years, and it is a very rewarding experience for me as their teacher.”

“ARTS strives to bring art to the communities of rural Texas,” says Allyson Hoffmann, ARTS’ Gallery Manager. “However, there are instances where art is already present, tucked away from the spotlight, and quietly nestled within the heart of our rural communities. With A Splash of Color, we get to showcase the talents of these local artists and provide a platform for their work to be celebrated and appreciated.”

Join ARTS for the artists’ reception and exhibition opening on Saturday, April 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the ARTS Ross Gallery (114 North Live Oak Street, Fayetteville). The exhibition will be available for viewing until June 1. The ARTS Ross Gallery is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
