South Lee County VFD BBQ Aug. 10

South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will hold their 43rd Annual BBQ and Auction on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. BBQ by the pound will be available starting at 4:30 p.m. BBQ plates with all the trimmings will be available starting at 5 p.m. Free-will donation for meal plates, desserts and drinks. Music by the Lost Cause Band will play from 3:30-6 p.m. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come enjoy the evening and show your support for the wonderful VFD.

Public Hearing 

A public hearing is scheduled in commissioners court regarding the Staccato Battery Storage Project in Warda. This will be held on Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. at the Fayette Agrilife Building on 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange.

Wednesday Night Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda will begin onAug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the family room. This will be a study on I and II Kings. The 12-week class will follow King Solomon’s reign and fall, and the captivity of both Israel and Judah. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Holy Cross Church Picnic The annual Holy Cross Lutheran Church picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 1 at the picnic grounds. If you have an auction item you would like to donate, it is greatly appreciated. This year all auction items must be on the list by noon Friday, Aug. 30 to be included in the live auction. Proceeds for this years picnic will be half to the Parochial School Tuition Assistance Fund and half to the picnic fund to be used for future projects. Make plans to attend this fun day. Community Baseball 

Sunday, Aug. 4, will be the semi-final games (to be announced.) Last week Serbin beat New Ulm 9-6.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Baptism 

Hattie Renee Moerbe was baptized at Holy Cross on Sunday, July 28. Hattie is the daughter of Kory and Amber Moerbe and was born May 7.

Birth Announcement 

Caleb and Kyndall Tonn are the proud parents of Kashten Levi Tonn born July 20. Excited to welcome Kashton are his big brother, Koleson and grandma, LaVerne Tonn.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Blessing of the Backpacks will be held Sunday, Aug. 11.

Sunday School Promotion Sunday will be held Aug. 25.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda will resume on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 10:30 a.m.
