The Smith-McMillan Chapter NSDAR awards two $1,000 Smith-McMillan Chapter NSDAR Scholarships. The winners of those scholarships are Campbell Youens and Kannyn Goehring.

Campbell Lee Youens from La Grange High School. She plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin, major in business at the Red McCombs School of Business, and work in the finance or business management field. She is the daughter of Mark and Kiesha Youens of La Grange.

Kannyn Kayne Goehring from Round Top-Carmine High School. He plans to major in kinesiology at Texas A & M University in College Station, and hopes to someday become a trainer for a collegiate or professional sports team. He is the son of Blake and Christie Goehring of Round Top.

The scholarships are awarded using a points system that takes into consideration their academic prowess, leadership roles, and an original essay, as well as their school, community, and church activities.

The winner of the Shirley K. Pyburn Memorial Scholarship of $1,500 is Macy Ann Bonds from Flatonia High School. She plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, Mays Business School, where she will earn a bachelors in business administration, and pursue a career in accounting. She is the daughter of Craig and Monica Bonds of Waelder.
