Situational Awareness Class Draws Large Crowd in Ellinger

There was a free situational awareness class led by instructor Officer Tammy Jo McCleney this past Sunday. The class was held at the chamber hall and was sponsored by City of Ellinger, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department, and the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce.

Ellinger Tomato Festival The 86th Tomato Festival will be held Friday, May 26-Sunday, May 28.

Friday-Margarita and Chips and Salsa, Entree and Dessert contest plus Round One of Chopped Challenge and Entertainment by The Broken Spokes from 8:3011:30 p.m.

Saturday-Tomato Trot 5K Fun Run, BBQ Cookoff, Farmers Breakfast and Bloody Mary Contest, Final LIVE Chopped Challenge Showdown, raffles, face painting, and a live auction at 7 p.m. followed by The Bandits.

Sunday-Homemade Chamber Fried Chicken and Sausage lunch drive through starting at 10:30 a.m. Check out ellingertexas. com for more information.

Raffle tickets are now for sale for the Tomato Festival from members, directors or at Koehl’s in Ellinger. The drawing is on Sunday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. and only 1,000 tickets will be sold. All proceeds go to the community center restoration, local scholarships and community improvements.

Vacation Bible School

The Shared Lutheran Ministry will have Vacation Bible School in Rutersville the week of July 24.

Shared Lutheran Ministry St. John Lutheran in Ellinger will have a bake sale and hotdogs on Saturday, May 13 from 9-12:30 p.m. at the church. Proceeds benefiting future ministries. For more information, contact (979) 9663515.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 FM on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.
