Shorthorn Golfers Finish 8th at State

The Shorthorn Golf Team finished 8th overall out of the 12 teams in the 2A UIL State Golf Tournament played at Lions Course in Austin on Monday and Tuesday.

“The UIL Golf Director AJ Martinez, stated at the tournament awards ceremony that there were over 1,200 AA Golfers in the state of Texas that started the season and only 12 teams - 60 kids made it to the state tournament,” said Schulenburg golf coach Richard Hoogendoorn. One of our goals going into the tournament was to defeat Weimar, who had beaten us in district and regional competition. The Horns defeated the Wildcats by one stroke at the state meet. Thanks to all the parents, administrators, and school board members who supported us in person at state. It was an awesome crowd of the Shorthorn faithful.”

Horns competing at state were Jayse Janda, Reid Janda, Brysen Schramek, Jackson Faith, and the only senior, Kaz McBride. Scores were: Reid Janda 77-84 – 161 Kaz McBride 86-85 – 171 Brycen Schramek 90-99 –189 Jackson Faith 105-94 –199 Jayse Janda 102-99 –201 Totals 355-362 –717
