Sheriff’s Report
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of August.
Sgt. Ron Naumann took a report of littering which occurred in Fayetteville. Video footage captured the subject discarding trash out of a moving vehicle. The subject was located and received a citation for the improper disposal of litter. Naumann also took a report of estray livestock which occurred in the Hostyn area. Two young bulls were located and impounded. The bulls were later sold at auction in accordance with the Texas estray process.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop in the La Grange area. One female subject was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Subject was not arrested due to medical reasons but will face charges for possession of a controlled substance. Meagher was also dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call in the early morning hours on South Kirtley Rd. It was determined the subjects had run out of gas. One subject was found to have two felony warrants out of Washington County. The female was arrested on the warrants.
Deputy Terry Guentert was dispatched to the Flatonia area in reference to a suicidal subject. The male subject took a large amount of pills in an attempt to hurt himself. The male was located in the bathroom of his residence and was unresponsive. The male was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Deputy Cody Williams stopped a vehicle near the Engle area. Williams observed two baggies fly out of the window of the car. Williams detained the driver and was able to recover two baggies containing narcotics, approximately 100 yards from the traffic stop. Inside the baggies, Williams located psilocybin mushrooms and cocaine. The driver was arrested and faced numerous felony charges. Williams stopped another vehicle near the Flatonia area. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of 2.419 kilograms of heroin. The driver was arrested.
Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of illegal dumping in the Engle area. The subjects responsible were located and were issued citations.
Deputy Seth Nagel responded to a report of a suspicious abandoned U-Haul truck. After further investigation, the U-Haul was determined to be stolen out of Houston.
Deputy James Ulbig responded to a trespass call in the West Point area. A check of the suspect’s license showed him to have an active warrant out of Fayette County for Criminal Mischief. The was arrested on the warrant without incident.
Deputy Duane Meagher was dispatched to a structure fire on Reiss Rd. A report was taken and one male subject was detained for trying to enter the scene of the fire. The male was released with no charges. Meagher then located a vehicle in the Whataburger drive-thru in Schulenburg where the driver appeared to be sleeping. The subject was arrested. Meagher also took a report of a runaway juvenile. A CPS investigation was launched and the juvenile was temporarily placed with a family friend pending the results of the investigation.
Deputy Joe Gonzales took a report of fuel theft which occurred near the Flatonia area. A report was taken and the case remains under investigation at this time. Gonzales overheard a suspicious person call that was dispatched to La Grange Police Department. Gonzales had dealt with the subject earlier in the day and was aware the subject displayed signs of intellectual development disorder. Gonzales made contact with the subjects mother who advised her son suffered from Autism and had run away from his residence in Elgin. Gonzales was able to get the boy back to his mother without incident.
Deputy Jared Michalec took a report of a disturbance that occurred in the La Grange area. After further investigation it was determined no assault occurred and both parties were separated for the night. Michalec responded to a call of trespassing in the Nechanitz area. One subject was arrested for Criminal Trespass. The subject also had an active felony warrant out of Fayette County for possession of a controlled substance and was arrested on the warrant as well.
Deputy Wesly Arrison stopped a vehicle in the La Grange area for a traffic violation. After further investigation, one male subject was found to be in possession of methamphetamine was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Arrison stopped to check on a stranded motorist in the West Point area. The subject was found to be in possession of a firearm and was a convicted felon, legally barring him from possessing a firearm. The subject was arrested.
Deputy Mark Pritchard responded to a disturbance in the Swiss Alp area in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a handgun. A male subject was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault (family/household) with Weapon. Pritchard also served a misdemeanor warrant in the Schulenburg area for Assault Family Violence. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.
Jail Administrator Holly Smith reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 78 individuals for the month of August. Smith reports that the Jail Staff transported 8 individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
