Shared Lutheran Ministry Holding Raffle Fundraiser

St. John Lutheran in Ellinger is selling raffle tickets now in conjunction with their annual roast beef dinner. The dinner will be on Oct. 13. The cost is $20 a ticket or $50 for three, and only 1,000 tickets are sold. There are 40 great prizes on the ticket. The drawing will be immediately after the drive through dinner on Sunday, Oct. 13. See any church member, or purchase at Koehl’s in Ellinger. Details about the meal coming soon.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Commercial Heifer Sale The sale for 125+ quality bred heifers shown by 4H and FFA members will be on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. Refreshments and hamburgers for a free will donation will be available at 11:30 a.m. The hamburgers are sponsored by the Colorado Valley Independent Cattleman’s Association and Fayette Beef Committee. Come by and see what these kids have been doing the last several months and/or purchase a heifer that has been under the kid’s care for the last several months. The BBQ cookoff for the fair will also be held on Aug. 24 at the fairgrounds.

Brethren Church 

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

St. Mary’s Annual Bazaar 

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger will host their 74th annual bazaar on Sunday, Aug. 25. Starting at 10:30 a.m. there will be a drive through and dine in meal at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall consisting of fried chicken and sausage and all the trimmings for $15. There will be a silent and live auction, along with a variety booth and other fun games and activities. Live music will be provided by The Bandits. A prize drawing for a $5,000 gift card plus 43 other prizes will be held. Tickets are available at St. John’s/St. Mary’s Parish office, any St. Mary’s parishioner, Fayetteville Bank or Round Top State Bank. An online auction will open for bids starting Aug.16, at www. stmaryellinger.com. Register as a bidder and view the items. 10% of the proceeds will go to The Turtle Wing Foundation.
