Shared Lutheran Ministry Day Camp Set July 25-29

SLM Day Camp has been scheduled for July 25-29. It will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The theme for this VBS Camp is “Come as You Are!”

All are welcome at Jesus’ table of grace, just as we are. No dress code, no prerequisites. Jesus invites all to come. Participants will be divided into groups called Villages. Each Village will consist of a Lutherhill staff member, a small group assistant, and campers similar in age. Bible studies, nature learning, service opportunities, arts and crafts, and games will take place during Village time.

Breakfast will be from 8-8:30 a.m. Pick up will be 3:30-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and early pick up at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Parents are welcome to attend Pool Day at Lutherhill on Thursday, and Talent Show/ Closing Worship at 2:20 p.m. on Friday.

Campers are K-fifth grade (per 2022-2023 school year.); Junior volunteers – sixth-eighth graders; volunteers – ninth graders and older. There will be a $50 registration fee for each participant, and an optional $10 fee for shirts and $10 for breakfast. Registration forms are due July 8.

City-Wide Garage Sale

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is planning a City-Wide garage sale on Saturday, July 9 starting at 7 a.m. Call or text Miranda Schlabach at (979) 966-8612 to reserve a spot under the ECC Hall Pavilion. You also have the option to have your home address advertised and receive a garage sale sign.

55th Stancik Reunion

The 55th Annual Stancik family reunion is scheduled for Sunday, July 17. The event will be held at the Columbus Hall, 3845 I-10 West, Columbus, Texas from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The reunion crew will provide meat, tea, and water; those attending are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Food Collection

St. John Rutersville WELCA is once again collecting food for the AMEN food pantry. Suggested items for July include: Heavy-Duty Reusable BAGS, Spam, Soup, Canned Chili, Ranch Style Beans, Black-eyed Peas, Boxed Oatmeal, and Biscuit Mix.

Ellinger VFD

The Ellinger VFD will drill on Wednesday, July 20 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Zwahr Benefit

A Memorial benefit has been planned for the Curtis Zwahr family. The event will be held on Saturday, July 9 at the La Grange KC Hall. A bar-bque pork dinner with potatoes, green beans and tea will be served. You may dine in or take out. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $15 per plate. Additionally there will be a live and silent auction.

Officer Curtis Zwahr lost his young wife Jessica soon after giving birth to their son born three months early. Officer Zwahr’s son is still in NICU. This benefit meal and auction(s) will help defray the medical bills for both his wife and infant son. Monies will also help cover ongoing travel expenses and funeral costs.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Christmas in July Bunco

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a “Christmas in July Bunco Night.” It is scheduled for Friday, July 15 at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There is a social hour and meal from 6-7 p.m. Bunco school is at 6:45 p.m. and the games begin at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $40 per individual or $140 for a table of four. Tickets include Bunco play, a festive holiday meal, dessert, one drink ticket, and a door prize entry. There will be over $500 in prizes awarded. There will be limited spaces available and advanced tickets are required. The deadline to register is Monday, July 11. Make your reservations.

Ellinger Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Ellinger C of C

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center.
