Shared Lutheran Ministry Day Camp Coming Up
SLM Day Camp
SLM Day Camp has been scheduled for July 25-29. It will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The theme for this VBS Camp is “Come as You Are!” All are welcome at Jesus’ table of grace, just as we are. No dress code, no prerequisites. Jesus invites all to come. Participants will be divided into groups called Villages. Each Village will consist of a Lutherhill staff member, a small group assistant, and campers similar in age. Bible studies, nature learning, service opportunities, arts and crafts, and games will take place during Village time. Breakfast will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Pick up will be 3:30 to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and early pick up at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Parents are welcome to attend Pool Day at Lutherhill on Thursday, and Talent Show/ Closing Worship at 2:20 p.m. on Friday. Campers are K-fifth grade (per 2022-2023 school year.); Junior volunteers – sixth – eighth graders; Volunteers – ninth graders and older. There will be a $50 registration fee for each participant, and an optional $10 fee for shirts and $10 for breakfast. Registration forms are due July 8.
WELCA Food Collection
St. John Rutersville WELCA is once again collecting food for the AMEN food pantry. Suggested items for June include heavy duty reusable bags, pan cake mix, hamburger helper, canned chicken, canned stew, jam, jelly, and syrup.
Ellinger VFD
The Ellinger VFD will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. Drill is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, at 7 p.m.
Fayetteville Brethren
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.
Ellinger Chamber
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a “Christmas in July Bunco Night”. It is scheduled for Friday, July 15, at the Ellinger Community Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There is a social hour and meal from 6 to 7 p.m. Bunco school is at 6:45 p.m. and the games begin at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $40 per individual or $140 for a table of four. Tickets include Bunco play, a festive holiday meal, dessert, one drink ticket, and a door prize entry. There will be over $500 in prizes awarded. There will be limited spaces available and advanced tickets are required. The deadline to register is Monday, July 11. Make your reservations soon.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday July 11, at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Recycle Trailer
The recycle trailer will make a stop at the Ellinger Community Center on Wednesday, June 29, between 1 and 3 p.m.
Burn Ban
Summer officially began on Tuesday, June 21, but we have been experiencing hot and dry conditions since early May. This has prompted the establishment of a burn ban for Fayette and Colorado Counties. Please be careful when working or playing outdoors; drink plenty of water and check on elderly friends and neighbors. Also be mindful of animals and pets.
