Shape of Things Exhibit Opens at ARTS
Discover The Shape of Things at Arts for Rural Texas when it opens the exhibition by Mary F. Fischer and Debbie Little Wilson on June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The artists’ reception is free and open to the public and offers a delightful excursion into a unique vision and storytelling by the two artists.
Mary Fischer began her artistic career after serving in US Air Force Intelligence and then working for several environmental consulting agencies in Austin, Texas. For her 40th birthday, she and a friend took clay lessons at a local facility. She quickly learned the potter’s wheel was not for her. However, she loved clay and hand building with the medium. She’s been dedicated to that art form ever since.
Debbie Little Wilson was born in Rochester, New York, the home of Kodak where her dad worked. He wanted to be a photographer and her mother, a homemaker, wanted to be a commercial illustrator for a magazine in New York City. Guided by these creative family members, Debbie followed her heart and delved into the arts.
She studied art at the University of Texas at Austin and learned printmaking from Nellie Buel, an awardwinning artist and printmaker. She now lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband, Ken, a jeweler, historian, and writer They collect vintage postcards, photos and other ephemera, much of which become images in her etchings, drawings and monoprint collages.
