Shannon Mucha Named 2022 ArtWalk Poster Artist

This year’s ArtWalk featured poster artist is Shannon Mucha of Montgomery. Mucha’s artwork has been prominently displayed across the region, playfully celebrating the popular annual event. The artist’s body of work includes drawings, paintings and mixedmedia pieces. Each animal, floral, portrait or abstract work is inspired by literature or poetry and departs from literal translation to fanciful whimsy.

Whether responding to ancient mythology, classic fairy tales, or modern stories, each subject represents aspects of our humanity. These are young and old, simple and layered, vibrant and subdued, royal and common. These subjects have a way of connecting us and uniting our differences, even if only for a moment. While literature contains concrete images, layered themes and abstract ideas, these paintings strive to capture similar hints within the authors writing. Visual threads connect and unify this series.

Shannon has studied art history, graphic design, illustration, visual communication, photography, and painting. Before starting a family, she worked as a corporate artist painting murals and later as a graphic artist designing museum exhibits, environmental design, and print collateral for an international design firm. Shannon has traveled nationally showing her paintings at art shows across the country.
