Several Attend Senior Connections Bingo
We are having so much fun at Senior Connections. Although we had to be closed for a couple of days already due to winter weather, our members cannot wait to get back to their Senior Connections.
When 41 members show up on a Wednesday after two days of bad weather and the Center being closed, you know they have missed coming to be with their friends and have a laugh or two, or three, and share a warm meal. The numbers do not lie, and they are indicators that we are doing the right thing, for the right reason.
We planned a Mardi Gras Breakfast on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 13. This gave us a chance to “live it up” for a moment before we enter the Lenten Season. We are really looking forward to jazzing it up and recruiting more members, too. The breakfast consisted of wonderful breakfast casseroles, mini pigs, cinnamon rolls, and fresh fruit. Beverages included coffee, tea, and juice.
Another “thank you” goes out to the volunteer team at Senior Connections. Our Director has been out sick for a few weeks and, once again, the volunteer team has filled the gap.
The staff is working on developing new programs, we are hiring an Activity Director so that there are a variety of things to do and events to go to. It’s time to raise the roof and change up our routine, too. So there are plans being made to go to different places and to do some different things. Who would like to go San Antonio? How about go into Katy for a visit to Chinatown or to a Studio Movie Grill? Let’s plan to attend a B League baseball game in Katy or Round Rock, that is not too farfetched either.
We want to give a big shout-out to Kitra Ruiz, one of our members who stepped up and volunteered to call Bingo so everyone could play a little bit longer.
Our mission is simple: to enhance the quality of life for the seniors we serve. We thank you in advance, for everyone’s ongoing support.
