Seniors Enjoy Thanksgiving Luncheon
Boyd Kelley with Walmart Insurance Services out of Walmart in La Grange came to the Senior Connections building on Monday, Nov. 14, and took care of the expenses for the senior Thanksgiving entrée, gravy and cornbread dressing for the Thanksgiving luncheon held on Wednesday, Nov. 16. His generous actions helped us accomplish our mission statement, which is to enhance the quality of life for the senior citizens we serve.
The Singers from St. Rose of Lima Catholic School have always provided some entertainment at Senior Connections and they weren’t going to let a broken school bus stop them, either. The dedicated students walked from their campus all the way to Wolter’s Park. Father Chase was along with them and they arrived safely. Every year they come back with some new jokes, skits, and singing. Every year, there are smiles all around, This past week, Stephanie Shroyer from Arts for Rural Texas was our Lunch & Learn Series speaker and came to explain and inform seniors of some activities she can suggest that we might be interested in. She started with mosaics and she had some finished pieces to show us. Everyone was excited and agreed that they would meet at theARTS studio in Schulenburg on Friday mornings. The activity will start in January, each Friday of the week, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the mosaic project will be the first art project they will engage in.
We have an open sign-up sheet to participate in an activity at Twisted Steel Studio in downtown Weimar on Friday, Dec 2, for a $10 participant fee, which is half off the whole price of $20. Activity starts at 2 p.m. All materials are covered in the fee, so there is no need to bring anything.
