Senior Connections Thankful For Volunteers
Senior Connections in Schulenburg has a new monthly calendar out and are excited about the speakers coming to our Center on Mondays to inform us of relevant issues. We have our Bingo callers set up on Wednesdays, there are some delicious meals that have been planned, and some great activities and outings to go to.
The Volunteer Team at Senior Connections is running like a well-oiled machine. They know what they are doing, and you can tell they love what they are doing. Our volunteers not only assist with the daily meal preparations, they are also instrumental in the baking group that applauds the work of our local first responder teams by baking goodies for them to enjoy with their coffee while on break. This is another way that Senior Connections contributes to the overall good of our community.
They also accompany us on outings and are always so helpful. Kathy Carpenter, Sharon Rodriguez, Julie Clements, and Darlene Williams make up the main team, with Debbie Schindler, Lucy Stanzel, and Judy Hagemann assisting at least once a month as well. We are so blessed to have their cooperative presence, and we thank them immensely for all they do at Senior Connections. We say that their work is love made visible, because we can feel the passion they bring to the work they do.
We want to celebrate all of our volunteers and that includes the organizations that provide our bingo callers and the prizes that they bring. Fayette Savings Bank has been with us the longest and every time we say that we are looking for new Bingo callers, they ask to keep their slot on the first Wednesday of each month. Cheryl Brossmann and Mike Olle have been steady Bingo callers and they know just what to do.
Regency Integrated Services comes to us from Hallettsville on the second Wednesday, and we have come to get to know and enjoy the staff they send to Senior Connections. On the third Wednesday, Crown Hospice Services from Victoria sends us a staff person as well to call bingo for us and they share information with us regarding the services they provide. On the fourth Wednesday of each month, we are blessed to work with the staff from our own Regency Home Health Services in Schulenburg, and they have been so responsive and action-oriented with our members. They provide BP screenings regularly and take care to inform us about anything when our members have questions regarding their health.
We have another special person, Bill Wagner, who is one of our VIP Bingo callers. He has graciously volunteered to help us out on the months that have five Wednesdays. Bill is great and because he comes to eat lunch with us, we have gotten to know him on a real personal level. We have other VIP Bingo callers that come in when we have a special event, or just because they want to, such as our Fayette Co. Pct. 4 Commissioner, Drew Brossmann, Tammy Treybig and her staff over at Partners Insurance, and Vicki Woodard, who drives the Schuber Van for us on our outings. Each one of them has come and spent some time with us, just when we need it most. Thanks to our community, for always being supportive when we have a need. Our members really appreciate the diversity they bring and really enjoy the different caliber of bingo prizes that each group brings in with them.
