Senior Connections Schedule

Senior Connections is excited to invite all seniors aged 55 and up to join our vibrant community across our locations. With free membership and delicious home-cooked meals, there is no better place to socialize, engage, and enjoy life. Your own little social club.

At all our locations, Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia, our doors swing open at 9 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. allowing you to drop by at your convenience. Each day begins with a warm cup of coffee and lively conversation, accompanied by friendly competition in games like Dominoes, puzzles, and Sequence. These activities aren’t just fun they also stimulate the brain and enhance hand-eye coordination.

At 11:15 a.m. we gather for prayer requests and celebrations before lining up for our midday meal at 11:30 a.m. Executive Director, Amanda Kridel, along with dedicated volunteers and the occasional local caterers, prepare a feast that nourishes both body and spirit. After enjoying lunch together, we share announcements about upcoming events, activities, and adventures. And just when you think the fun is over, we dive into a spirited game of bingo.

We also host Lunch and Learn programs featuring interesting speakers from local businesses, discussing topics that matter to our members, often focusing on health and wellness.

Here is a look at our exciting schedule for the week of June 9-13:

Monday, June 9

Join us in Schulenburg at 1111 BohlmannAve. The menu will include: chicken spaghetti, mixed vegetables, and salad. Desserts provided by members. The Lunch and Learn program will be by Holly Gigout from La Grange Lawyers, Schovajsa, Mayer, Holub & Barnes, LLP, brings an understanding of Medicaid and preparing for the future. The bingo caller for the day will be Sandy Anderson from True Care Living in Columbus.

Tuesday, June 10

Join us in Flatonia at the Flatonia Methodist Church in Newman Hall located at 403 E. North Main. A special feature will include chair exercises at 9:45 a.m. On the menu is enchilada casserole, rice, beans, and dessert from a member. The Lunch and Learn will be presented by Taylor Martinek with the Flatonia Farmers Market will share their vision and community impact. Bingo caller will be Joshua Lovejoy from Crown Hospice.

Wednesday, June 11

We are back in Schulenburg at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. on Wednesday. Menu will be a treat featuring Connie Koopman’s famous chicken fried chicken served with her special gravy, buttered potatoes prepared by our volunteers, and our famous salad. Desserts will be provided by members. We dive straight into the fun with bingo hosted by Chyla from Wellsential Nursing and Rehab. It’s sure to be a lively time.

Friday, June 13

Join the Artful Friday class at Senior ConnectionsActivity Center at 1111 Bowman Ave. with Claire Lewis who will continue teaching a beginner’s watercolor class from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. We will finish the day with a nice light lunch.

Join for a week filled with food, fun, and fellowship. Whether you visit one location or all, you will find a welcoming environment that celebrates the joys of being an active senior.
