Senior Connections Planning Movie Trip
At Senior Connections, we have had our ups and downs, just like everyone else, but this year we started our Strategic Planning, so, for us, it has been a good year, because it sets us up for more good things to keep happening.
Our director was hospitalized in August, and we slowed down for a while, but then, our program level volunteers rallied and said they would pull together and get the daily program going again. That made us all happy, especially our senior members. After having to close during COVID season, we know that even being closed one week impacts our members severely.
Our board level volunteers have stepped it up, as we continue work on our Strategic Plan. Goals have been set, action steps are getting written down, and everyone will see more of Senior Connections in 2023 as our plans get implemented.
Movie Day is scheduled for Jan. 10 to go see “A Ticket to Paradise” with Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Stay tuned for more information on the times. The owners of the Lyric movie theater have been very cooperative about showing us a movie during the week with matinee times, and we sure do appreciate it. Not many of our senior members drive after dark and they sometimes miss a lot of events and happenings because of this.
When we go see a movie and have lunch, we usually get a signup sheet going at Senior Connections. Last time we went, there were close to 30 participants, so we will partner with Schuber and carpool into Flatonia to stay on the safe side.
Please look at our monthly calendar on our website: www. srconnections.org.
If you know someone who would benefit from being around their friends and neighbors, then please help pass the word so others know what is going on and where to go.
Coming up in the month of January, we are excited that Ed Janecka will join us this month. Last month, he actually forgot. That’s it, just plain and simple, he forgot. He said to me, “Cindy, when I was a Judge, I had four or five people telling me where to go, when to be there, and how to get there, but now, I just forget sometimes.” So, we forgave him for not showing up in Dec.and we promised to send him lots of reminders. Jennifer Moring, from FSB in Weimar, will tell us about what’s going on at her bank and how they contribute to our community. Ed Janecka will be in to tell us his story, about his books, and his gardening skills, then Craig Moreau will come in to give us some information. He will let us know how things are going with the flu and COVID in our area, he will let us know what we should be doing to stay ahead of the weather forecasts, and he’ll inform us of any upcoming issues we need to be concerned about. Craig always wants questions. He wants to answer any questions our members may have so folks know the right way to go about getting things done. We will finish up the month with a representative from the Schulenburg Family Fitness Center to inform us of what they offer, rates, programs and how we can work together in 2023.
