Senior Connections New Year’s Eve Heritage Ball Was Held December 31

Senior Connections in Schulenburg is still in “recovery mode” after the New Year’s Eve Heritage Ball on Dec. 31. Since this was the first event of this magnitude, we had a lot to purchase this time around that we won’t have to next year, which means we now have more items to store.

Storage space is a sore spot for us because we do not have it. We had to acquire a storage space that we must rent to store seasonal items and we are looking for a sponsor to help with this $40 a month expense.

If you would like to help us with this situation, call at (979) 743-3227 and ask to speak to Cindy.

There will be a full accounting of the event at the Jan. 25 board meeting, so we are anxiously awaiting to hear this news.

The servers were walking around with small trays of appetizers, and this led up to the Whiskey Wall Scramble, which really excited the guys. They were so glad to go home with something, after supporting the operations at the Senior Connections Center.

All this led up to a fantastic dinner of prime rib medallions, chicken breast, lobster macaroni and cheese, a beautiful fall salad, baby potatoes, and roasted vegetables.

The community support for Senior Connections was astounding, to say the least. We are so amazed and want to thank everyone for their generous contributions.

Whether it was a table sponsorship, a monetary contribution, an auction item, a dessert item, a whiskey bottle, or some of your valuable time, we appreciate all the help and support, and it all makes a tremendous impact on our daily operations and the services we provide to our senior members.

Two major calendar adjustments for the month of January had to be made. Here they are: When we meet withARTS on every Friday, the hours we will meet are from 10 a.m. to noon. Then we proceed over to Senior Connections for a lite lunch and a quick game of Mexican Train, if you got the time.

The Square Dance Group, which meets on Thursday evening, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., will meet every Thursday. No charge for January sessions, but starting in February, there will be a $5 session charge.

Our mission is simple: to enhance the quality of life for the seniors we serve. We thank you in advance, for everyone’s ongoing support.

The work we do is made visible by the support of our community, and we ended 2023 on a truly grateful note.
