Senior Connections Has Busy September
Our schedule for the week of Sept. 23, we will start the day in Schulenburg at 9 a.m. for coffee and conversation and dominos. We have a cabinet with many other games that friends can enjoy. Feel free to share your own favorite game. For our home-cooked meal, we will enjoy one of my favorites: Connie Koopman Catering’s beef tips with rice, vegetables, salad, and dessert. Following our meal, our Lunch and Learn program will be about preventative medicine brought to us by Dr. Hudson with Tejas Clinic in La Grange.
We will be in Flatonia on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Newman Hall at Flatonia Methodist Church, with the doors opening at 9 a.m. Following the meal, Tammy Collins will stop by and share her vision of restoring Flatonia for our Lunch and Learn program. I’m excited to hear her story and what drives her to achieve her goals. Lindsay Guiterez with Schulenburg Regency Home Health will call our bingo game to complete the day.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, one of our members’ favorite foods returns to our Schulenburg campus, Oakridge Smokehouse. Schulenburg Family Fitness Center brings us our bingo game.
You can drop by any time during our program days at any location. Whether you come to enjoy the camaraderie of dominoes or other games in the morning or for the meal and bingo. Membership is free and open to anyone 55 and up.
We thank our fantastic community for supporting our mission to enhance the lives of our senior population in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties. We think what we do, providing a safe, happy place for seniors to gather to share a meal with friends, play some games, and win some prizes playing bingo, is a valuable gift. If you know anyone who could benefit from this, please encourage them to join us.
At these locations, our doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.: Senior Connections building, 1111 Bohlmann Ave., Schulenburg; Flatonia Methodist Church, 403 E. North Main Street, Flatonia; First United Methodist Church, 301 South College St., Weimar; Artful Friday at Arts For Rural Texas, 1206 Lyons Ave., Schulenburg.
