Senior Bingo May 19 in Ledbetter, Matin Luther Announces VBS Dates
Senior Bingo
Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) has a change of date for May. It will be held on the third Sunday in May, due to Mother’s Day being on the second Sunday. The location is at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.
This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. The next date is May 19.
Martin Luther VBS
Vacation Bible School will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church June 9-13 with an estimated time of 5:30-7:45 p.m. The closing program will be on Sunday, June 16 during the 10 a.m. worship service. “Scuba – Diving into Friendship with God” is the theme. RT-C School News

The Region IV, class 1A track meet was held April 19 and 20 in Jourdanton. Results for RT-C high school athletes are long jump, Egypt Woods, first and she advances to state; 3200m and 800, Maggie Salinas, third; 1600, Maggie Salinas, third and Avery Nelius, fifth; 400, Kennedy Flinn, seventh; 100, Egypt Woods, third; 4x100 and 4x200, Jill Eilers, Tess Eilers, Mallory Krause and Egypt Woods, sixth; and 4x400, Jill Eilers, Tess Eilers, Mallory Krause and Kennedy Flinn, eighth.
In the district tennis tournament, some teams and one individual will advance to the regional tournament on May 8 and 9 in Bryan. Results are girl’s doubles, Mallory Krause and Maggie Salinas, first and Jill Eilers and Tess Eilers, second; boys doubles, Kash Wessels and William Keng, third; mixed doubles, Evan Blazek and Jessica Rohde, third; and girls singles, Kimberly Rohde, second and Kinsley Bage, third.
Caden Tovey received a blue ribbon with his chicken coop at the Blinn College Ag Mechanics show recently. The coop features a stained-glass window with a chicken nesting her eggs.
The high school baseball team’s season came to an end when they were defeated by Richards in Navasota on April 29 in the bi-district game.
Ben Ahrens has been hired to coach at Round Top-Carmine for the 2024-25 school year. He has sixteen years of teaching and coaching experience. Welcome to Coach Ahrens and his family.
May 9 is the academic banquet.
Students will have a holiday on May 13, while teachers have a professional development day.
Decoration Service
The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold its annual Decoration Service on Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at the cemetery. The Rev. David Tinker will lead the service.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is May 9 at 7 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing Ascension Day Sunday is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy communion is a 10 a.m. The Praise Team leads hymns and the Noisy Offering will be received. It is designated for the Cajun Navy, a group who helps families after disasters.
A reception for Mother’s Day and graduates follows worship.

Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.
Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Take note that Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics are not accepted. They do not take plastic bags.
Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
