Second Chance Funds New Defibrillators for St. Mark’s

The Second Chance Emporium (SCE) awarded St. Mark’s Medical Center $19,687 for purchase of two defibrillator/ monitors.

The defibrillator/monitors are part of the equipment on crash carts at St. Mark’s that are used for patient management during cardiac or respiratory resuscitation. The new devices monitor the heart rhythm, and when warranted, provide defibrillation to return the heart to rhythm; they also can assist pacing the heart rhythm.

“The Second Chance Emporium’s success is a blessing to our community,” said St. Mark’s President and CEO Mark Kimball. “The staff tirelessly works to offer a clean, affordable shopping experience and then shares the proceeds with organizations such as St. Mark’s, that in turn help the very community they reside. Our team is extremely appreciative of the many upgrades and additions that Second Chance Emporium supports.”

“Adding these new defibrillators/ monitors to our crash carts helps make our team more efficient in treating our patients,” said St. Mark’s Chief Clinical Officer Tammy Hartfield, RN, MSN. “We thank the Second Chance Emporium organization for all that they do for our hospital and community.”
