Second Annual South Central Texas Rural Philanthropy Day Speakers Announced
The roster of featured speakers bringing a wide range of nonprofit education at the upcoming second annual South-Central Texas Rural Philanthropy Day (SCTX RPD) has been announced.
Hosted by the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF), this professional development conference is designed to alleviate the strain on our local nonprofits by building their organizational capacity and strengthening their relationships with a variety of funders. No longer will our rural nonprofits have to spend hundreds of dollars to attend professional development conferences miles out of town, an expense many cannot afford. Along with Title Sponsor, the Stanzel Family Foundation, FCF is seeking to bring that education local while ensuring it stays affordable for rural nonprofits to be able to attend.
This year, FCF is bringing 10 speakers from all over Texas to host a variety of professional development sessions. The morning block will feature a deep-dive from speakers Kelty Garbee of Texas Rural Funders and Jerry Kenney of TLL Temple Foundation, who will lead a forum on community development financial institutions. Concurrently, educational sessions will address some of the most pressing topics facing rural nonprofits including: strategic planning; identifying and writing grants specifically for rural support; organizational and governance leadership; financial sustainability; storytelling in marketing; and increasing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Facilitated by highly respected professionals in the nonprofit sector, these educational speakers include Erica Erkwuzel of CivicAim, Sequoia Consulting LLC, Krystal Grimes of AMMA Empowerment, Angela Seaworth of Texas A&M University, Amy Allen of Austin Community Foundation, and Bridget Brandt of Leander Chamber of Commerce.
Educational highlights of the conference’s afternoon block include lunch keynote speaker Wynn Rosser, CEO of TLL Temple Foundation, who will discuss the culture of collaboration followed by Colton Strawser leading a deep-dive grant writing session, focused on transitioning ideas into impact.
In November of 2022, the inaugural Rural Philanthropy Day brought 166 attendees to Fayette County, with 30 funders and 73 nonprofit organizations from all over the state represented. This year, FCF projects participation to reach 200 attendees from all over South Central Texas.
Follow the South Central Texas Rural Philanthropy Day Facebook page to stay up to date on all information for the event. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased on the FCF website at www.faycofoundation. com/rpd. SCTX RPD is projected to sell out early again this year, so purchasing tickets as soon as possible is highly recommended.
