Schulenburg Young Farmers Seek Entries For Hay Show
The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 55th Annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair. Judging will take place at
Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 31 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the fairgrounds.
Hay produced in Fayette County in the spring and summer of 2022 can be entered in the following classes.
Class 1 - Coastal
Class 2 - Other Bermuda grasses
Class 3 - Other perennial grasses
Class 4 - Mixed grasses
Class 5 - Sorghums Class 6 - Winter annuals (oats
Class 6 - Winter annuals (oats and ryegrass)
Class 7 -Legumes and Legume grass mixture
An entry fee of $10 will pay for the cost of the testing. Hay entries can be dropped off at the following locations: MG Farm Service Center - Weimar, Farmers Co-op - Schulenburg, La Grange Farm and Ranch - La Grange, and Mica Soil Service - Flatonia.
Deadline for the 2022 Hay Show is Saturday Aug. 13, 2022.
