Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 28-June 3.
Animal Complaint
On May 30, Code Enforcement animal control officer Gina Harden received information about some elderly folks living with many large dogs. Upon arrival in the 100 block of E. Paulus, Harden and Officer MD Krenek went to the home and did a welfare check, and the smell of urine and feces was overwhelming with around 40 dogs, Krenek and Harden began taking photos and will submit to animal care specialist in San Antonio. They will be contacting the humane society of the United States.
On May 31, Harden received a call about a found dog in the 700 block of Baumgarten. Officer Hailee Vincent picked up the dog and placed in the pound. Later, the owners had been found but did not have the appropriate vaccine records.
On June 1, Vincent responded to the 1100 block of Paulus where complainant advised of a red car dumping a dog. Officer made contact with complainant who advised he observed people in a red car dump a dog behind the apartments. The dog belonged to a tenant who had been evicted from the residence several days prior.
On June 1, Harden received a call from home owner in the 700 block of Baumgarten that advised she had trapped one adult female cat and one kitten. Officer Harden called the Gardenia E. Janssen animal shelter who advised they did not have room and a virus had taken over the cat room. Harden will foster until there is an opening.
Civil Matter
On May 29, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 40 block of Kessler for a civil matter, child custody.
Traffic Stop
On May 30, Krenek stopped a driver in the 800 block of S. Kessler for a speeding violation. Driver was issued a warning.
On June 2, Krenek stopped a driver in the 800 block of S. Kessler for speeding. Driver received a citation.
Welfare Check
On June 3, Krenek was dispatched to the 1000 block of Eilers for a welfare check. Officer found the male lying on the floor in the bedroom next to his bed, he advised he had fallen 40 minutes earlier. Officer was in contact with EMS and also the man’s daughter who was coming in from Katy.
