Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 21-27.

Animal Complaint

On May 22, Code enforcement animal control officer Gina Harden picked up five kittens in the 700 block of Baumgarten and took to the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.

On May 25, Harden responded to the 100 block of N. Upton where an injured cat was in the church parking lot. Harden was able to secure the injured cat and was bit on the index finger during the process. Cat was dropped off at Dr. Sladek’s office and euthanized and prepared to be sent to the rabies testing lab in Austin.

On May 25, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 1300 block of Summit regarding a loose horse. The owners were on scene when officer arrived.

On May 26, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 1300 block of Lyons for a loose German Shepard in the road. Officer was unable to locate.

Accident

On May 21, Krenek was dispatched to the intersection of Kessler and Summit for a two-vehicle minor accident. Blue forms were issue to both parties.

On May 24, McFadden was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a minor accident.

Possession

On May 22, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding and no license plate lights. Passenger was arrested.

Shots Fired

On May 21, Officer Hailee Vincent arrived at the 200 block of Saint John in reference to shots fired.

On May 27, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1200 block of Pierce for shots fired. Officer spoke to several people and they heard the same shots but could not locate where they came from.

Suspicious Person

On May 25, Krenek responded to the 300 block of Anderson for a suspicious person. Officer was unable to locate.

Traffic Stop

On May 22, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.

On May 23, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for a defective tail lamp. Driver did not possess a valid driver’s license.

On May 23, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1000 block of County Road 234 for speeding.

On May 23, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. Driver issued a warning.

On May 24, Krenek stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.

On May 26, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 900 block of N. Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.

On May 27, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100

block of East Avenue for running a stop sign. Citation issued.

On May 27, Vincent stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for driving without lights when required. Warning was issued.
