Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 23-29.
Harassment
On July 28, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 300 block of August for an harassment call.
Identity Theft
On July 24, Krenek was dispatched to the 600 block of Upton in regard to scammers and identity theft.
Reckless Driving
On July 28, Krenek was dispatched to the 100 block of Russek in regard to a reckless driver in the construction area. Officer met with foreman and was advised the driver sped past the concrete truck and threw dirt and gravel and never slowed down. Officer was able to locate the driver and advised him to be cautious an observant of his surroundings. The driver apologized and said he never saw anyone in the road.
Traffic Stop
On July 24, Officer Byron Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Interstate 10 for an improperly displayed 30-day permit. Driver received a warning.
On July 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for expired registration (323) Driver received a warning.
On July 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for failure to signal lane change. Driver received a warning.
On July 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. Frontage Road for driving on the wrong side of the road. Driver received warnings for driving on the wrong side of the road and expired driver’s license.
On July 24, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received a warning.
On July 25, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E.
I-10 for speeding going 85 in a 75. Driver received a warning.
On July 25, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 going 91 in a 75. Officer conducted a search and marijuana and paraphernalia was located and then destroyed. Driver received a warning.
On July 26, Officer Hailee Vincent stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for running a red light at Highway 90 and Highway 77. Citation was issued.
On July 26, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 300 block of Kessler for disregarding a red light. Driver was issued a warning.
On July 26, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 70 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.
On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for defective tail lights. Driver received a warning.
On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for defective tail light. Driver issued a warning for defective tail light and expired registration (6-22) On July 29, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 88 in a 75. Driver received a warning.
On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for defective tail light. Driver received a warning.
On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 85 in a 75. Driver received a warning. On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for a defective taillight. Driver received a warning for defective tail light and a citation for no insurance.
On July 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for defective tail light and a warning was issued for defective tail light and a citation for no insurance.
Traffic Hazard
On July 26, Officer Chris Kalina arrived to the 1100 block of N. Main in regard to an 18-wheeler blocking the road, and upon arrival found the trailer had buckled in half.
Welfare Check
On July 26, Vincent responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler to check on a truck driver who locked their keys in the 18-wheeler. Officer unlocked the 18-wheeler.
Warrant Arrest
On July 28, Powe stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for initiating a wide right turn and failure to drive in a single lane. Driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Miscellaneous
On July 25, Krenek was dispatched to the 1000 block of Hwy. 90 for a welfare concern on a man asleep in a farm tractor. Officer upon arrival met with the subject who advised he was doing pipeline work and the hydraulics broke on the tractor and he was waiting on the boss to arrive with the parts to repair it.
On July 25, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to the 600 block of Upton to check on a man from Mississippi needing a voucher for a one night stay at the Americas Best Value Inn. The voucher was issued.
On July 25, Powe responded to the 200 block of St. John Road to assist EMS with a passed out elevenyear- old female with shallow breathing. Assisted EMS with security and loading the patient. Patient was transported to St. Mark’s.
