Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 27 through April 2.

Agency Assist

On March 28, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to Bird House Hill Rd. in reference to a loose cow. Officer was unable to locate.

On March 30, Officer Hailee Vincent received a call from Weimar police to be on the look out for a red two door Mazda and gave pertinent information on car occupants.

Accident

On March 28, Officer Chris Kalina investigated a hit and run accident in the 40 block of N. Kessler.

On March 28, Kalina responded to the 1200 block of Kessler for someone hitting the mailbox.

Animal Complaint

On March 31, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to Bohlmann and Wolf for a loose dog. Officer located owner of dog and the dog was chained back up.

Disturbance

On March 28, Kalina responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a disturbance.

On March 29, Vincent was dispatched to the 500 block of Paulus for a disturbance Officer spoke with the individual and they left.

Disorderly Conduct

On April 2, Kalina responded to the 800 block of N. Main in reference to individual being handsy with the women. Officer spoke to the individual and advised the behavior would not be tolerated and advised he must leave. Subject left.

Fire

On March 31, McFadden was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Main for a house fire. Officer contacted the owner of the house and was advised no one was inside the home. And the house was not on fire but the chimney flared up.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle

On March 30, McFadden was dispatched to the 1000 block of Lyons for a suspicious male walking north bound on Hwy. 77. Under cover deputies contacted the subject and the subject advised he was staying locally and working at Sengelman.

On April 1, Vincent responded to the 500 block of N. Main for a suspicious person. Individual was gone upon officers arrival.

Traffic Stop

On March 27, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of East I-10 for a defective headlamp. Driver was shaking and extremely nervous and crying upon officers’ approach. Officer smelt the odor of marijuana and individual advised they smoked in the car prior to stop. Officer had her pull off the highway and after she exited her vehicle she walked toward the roadway into a lane of traffic. Officer located an empty container of THC gummies in a bag and found a monster can, which smelled strongly of marijuana. Officer Castilleja arrived on scene and opened the can with a knife and pulled out a baggie, which contained a single bud of marijuana. Car was towed to Pilot and driver will sleep until she is better

On March 27, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for not signaling lane change. A warning was issued.

On March 30, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued for going 48 in a 25 mph school zone.

On March 30, McFadden stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 42 mph in a 25.

On March 31, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 10 block of Kessler for an obscured license plate and the operator was issued a warning for license plate light and released him to his sister and informed her if officer sees him driving again they will tow the vehicle and issue a citation.

On April 2, Vincent stopped a vehicle for no front license plate in the 400 block of Summit. A warning was issued.

On April 2, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.

Violation of Ordinance

On March 30, McFadden responded to the 500 block of Paulus for workers that did not have a permit. Officer advised they cannot work without a permit and if he catches them again without a permit they will receive a citation.

Welfare Check On March 29, Kalina re

On March 29, Kalina responded to the 500 block of Kessler for a woman wondering behind Titos. Female advised she no longer wanted to live at home. He advised she wanted to be in a nursing home. Officer gave her a ride to Regency and spoke with staff about what needed to be done next. Female’s daughter was called.

Miscellaneous

On March 31, Castilleja observed the bathroom doors to be broken at the sports complex in the 300 block of Schwartz and informed city hall.
