Schulenburg Police Issue Several Citations for Expired Registration, No License
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 1-7.
Traffic Stop
On May 1, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle on the 77 block of Kessler for failing to dim headlights. Driver issued a warning for expired registration and a citation for failing to maintain financial responsibility.
On May 1, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of Kessler.
On May 1, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 1100 block of Hwy. 77.
On May 1, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for improperly displaying a 30-day permit. Driver received a citation for driving without a license.
On May 2, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for no license plate light. Driver was issued a citation for no driver’s license and no insurance and expired registration.
On May 3, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 47 mph in a 30 mph zone.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 33 in a 25 mph zone.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 14 block of Kessler for expired registration. Driver issued a citation for expired registration and a warning for failing to change address.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for failure to signal lane change.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Kessler for a defective stop lamp. Driver wanted it noted that he felt it was a frivolous stop and too many black men are being shot by police as a result of frivolous stops. Driver was informed there would be no deaths as a result of this stop, should his actions during the course of it not dictate the use of deadly force.
On May 4, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of Summit for failing to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle.
On May 4, Parkinson issued a citation for parking in a no parking area. There are signs posted but he smiled and said he did not see them.
On May 5, Powe initiateda stop for failure to signal lane change in the 14 block of Kessler. Driver received a citation for driving without license.
On May 5, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.
On May 6, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 53 mph in a 30 mph zone.
On May 6, Sgt. Tobey McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for no license plates. The plates were in the car and not attached to the vehicle. Warning was issued for operating vehicle without license plates.
On May 6, Parkinson stopped at Baumgarten and Bohlmann for running a stop sign and no driver’s license.
On May 6, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and Summit for running a red light and a citation for not having a driver’s license.
On May 6, Parkinson issued a citation for driver leaving his truck and trailer on the middle of the highway in the 40 block of Kessler.
On May 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and N. Main for running a stop sign and not having a driver’s license.
On May 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler was issued a citation for going 49 in a 30 mph zone.
On May 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone and for driving without a license.
On May 7, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 49 in a 30 mph zone.
On May 7, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Interstate 10 for speeding.
Traffic Hazard
On May 4, Vincent responded to the 900 block of James for an oversized load that could not get through due to tree hanging too low. City removed the tree and officer provided traffic control.
Animal Complaint
On May 4, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 200 block of Ranger for a snake in a trashcan at Blinn.
Civil Matter
On May 3, Officer Frank Parkinson did a civil standby in the 900 block of James Ave.
