    Schulenburg Police Investigate Report of Animal Neglect

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 8-14.

Animal Complaint

On Oct. 10, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Kellett in reference to an animal complaint. Two dogs were located, and animal control was notified.

On Oct. 10, Code Enforcement Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a call about a Gray female Pitbull puppy trying to play with the students at St. Rose School/ Church. Officer took her to the pound and posted information on Facebook to locate owners.

On Oct. 10, Harden received a complaint about two dogs that bark and howl frequently in the 600 block of Kellett. Officer attempted to make contact with property owner.

On Oct. 12, Harden followed up on a complaint in the 300 block of Anderson for two dogs on the back porch. Harden discovered a white poodle type dog covered in feces and in a too small of a metal dog crate and no food was seen. Harden got the property owners name and number and informed him of the complaints. The second dog was on a leash which was tied to a barbecue pit. The dog had about 18 inches of room to move as the leash was wrapped around the tire of the barbecue pit. Dogs had no food in sight, both had feces they were walking in. Owner was advised they both needed a bath and they need a yard to be in. Harden will continue to monitor.

Theft

On Oct. 10, Whited spoke with complainant at the police station in regard to her sons’ phone being stolen and showing to be at another student’s home. Police met with the individual and he did have the phone in his back pack. No charges were filed.

Burglary

On Oct. 9, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 200 block of Baumgarten where complainant advised someone stole her work laptop out of her vehicle.

Civil Matter

On Oct. 11, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 500 block of Herder in regard to a child custody issue.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle

On Oct. 10, Vincent responded to the 25 block of N. Kessler for a woman loitering.

Traffic Stop

On Oct. 10, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.

On Oct. 11, Officer James Whited stopped a driver in the 1200 block of Summit for speeding, going 54 in a 45.

On Oct. 11, Whited stopped a driver in the 500 block of Bucek for a rear tail light not working.

On Oct. 13, Officer Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler with no license plate light. Warning was issued.

On Oct. 13, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 10 block of Kessler for defective head lamp. Driver received a warning.

On Oct. 14, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for driving without headlights when required. A warning issued.

Welfare Check

On Oct. 13, Vincent responded to the 40 block of East Ave. for a welfare check on an elderly female who drove herself to a doctor appointment.
