    Schulenburg Police Crack Down on School Zone Speeding

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of April 24-30.

Agency Assist

On April 30, Officer Chris Kalina assisted with a disturbance in the 600 block of FM 2672. Upon arrival officer learned one party had left.

Accident

On April 24, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 40 block of N. Kessler for a minor accident.

Criminal Trespass

On April 27, Officer Hailee Vincent was dispatched to the 800 block of Kessler to Executive Inn for a civil matter. Customer did not want to stay in the room that the hotel worker gave her because of hair and stains on the bed that should have been clean. Hotel worker advised he would give her another room but the next room had the same issue. Hotel worker refunded her $59 and asked her not to come back. Worker wanted a criminal trespass warning for the hotel.

Civil Matter

On April 29, Vincent responded to the 600 block of Upton for an exchange between parents. Father was advised by the mother that she was not coming.

Dog Bite

On April 30, Office Byron Powe responded to the 200 block of Upton for a dog bite.

Disturbance

On April 24, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 900 block of Lyons for a verbal disturbance. Sgt. Tobey McFadden arrived on scene and parties were separated.

On April 26, Kalina responded to the 400 block of College for a disturbance. Officer advised both parties this was a civil matter and needed to be handled in a JP court.

Suspicious Vehicle/Person

On April 29, Castilleja was dispatched to the 100 block of N. Main in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Traffic Stop

On April 24, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On April 24, Parkinson while on patrol pulled over a driver that did not have her kids strapped in. Citations were issued for no driver’s license and for not securing the kids while driving.

On April 27, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph school zone.

On April 27, Parkinson issued a citation in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 41 mph in a 25 mph school zone.

On April 27, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On April 27, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Lyons and N. Main for running a stop sign.

On April 27-Parkison stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 41 mph in a 25 mph school zone.

On April 27, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph school zone.

On April 28, Paekinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone. Citation was issued.

On April 28, Parkinson issued a citation for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone.

On April 28, Parkinson is sued a citation for driving 44 mph in a 25 mph school zone in the 300 block of Kessler.

On April 28, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 38 mph in 25 mph school zone and for failing to have insurance.

On April 28, Parkinson issued a citation in the 300 block of Kessler for driving 38 mph in 25 mph school zone.

On April 29, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Summit for a defective headlamp.

On April 29, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of North for failure to signal required distance. A warning was issued.

On April 29, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of N. Main for running a stop sign. Driver received a citation for no drivers’ license.

On April 29, Powe stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for no wearing a seat belt. A citation was issued for no insurance.

On April 29, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 500 block of Kessler.

On April 30, Vincent observed a vehicle traveling eastbound near the 200 block of E. Summit going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. Driver was advised he was running late to work, which is why he was speeding. Driver was issued a citation for no drivers license.

On April 30, Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 57 block of N. Kessler.

On April 30, Powe stopped a vehicle for in the 700 block of Hwy. 77 for a defective tail lamp and a citation was issued.

On April 30, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 200 block of Kessler going 46 in a 35 mph zone. A citation was issued for speeding and expired registration.

On April 30, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of James for failure to yield right of way. A warning was issued.

On April 30, Powe stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 700 block of N. Kessler.

On April 30, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of Kessler for speeding.

Welfare Check

On April 29, Kalina responded to the 100 block of Upton for a welfare concern from the cleaning lady. Officer found the residents were both in the hospital.

Miscellaneous

On April 26, Kalina responded to a vehicle fire in the 1200 block of South. Fire department was called to put the fire out.

On April 29, Kalina responded to the 1000 bock of Huser for an open door. The building was clear and found the door was not closed all the way and the robot vacuum pushed it open. The owners were notified.
