Schulenburg Police Chief Reports on Recent Activity
Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responed to during the week of Sept. 11-17.
Animal Complaint
On Sept. 12, Officer Jacob Mills was advised by Officer Kalina there were a couple of husky dogs loose in the 200 block of Upton. Animals were located and a warning to owner of animals issued. On Sept. 13, Code Enforcement Officer Gina Harden responded to the 600 block of Upton for a dog with no water food or shelter on the North side of the building. Harden noticed the dog in said conditions. Attempted to contact owner but no one home. On Sept. 13, Harden responded to the 600 block of South St. in regards to livestock in yard and smell getting bad. Officer observed the 3 goats and one horse in pens and no unusual smells noticed.
On Sept. 14, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 400 block of St. John Rd. for a horse that ran out of the pasture. On Sept. 15, Harden took a walk in complaint of a dog with no water, food or shelter in the 600 block of Upton. Contact with the owner was made and observed the dog is able to jump fence at will. On Sept. 16, Harden received a call about an abandoned dog left on a porch in the 1100 block of Upton. Officer attempted to phone the owner through ex boyfriend. No contact made. Officer took dog to the pound. Owner called within 30 minutes and picked the dog up.
Civil Matter
On Sept. 13, Officer Jacob Mills responded to the 700 block of Simpson in reference to an individual that was not allowed there.
Harassment
On Sept. 15, Sgt. Tobey Mc-Fadden was dispatched to the 40 block of Paulus in reference to harassment,
Public Intoxication
On Sept. 11, Officer Byron Powe stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 600 block of I-10 going 91 in a 75. Due to language barrier driver arrested for public intoxication.
Suspicious Person
On Sept. 11, Powe responded to the 1000 block of Summit where caller claimed an intoxicated male knocked on her door and left a package on her doorstep. Officer located plastic bag containing chips, ramen noodles and a Tupperware container and other items. It appeared that someone purposely left for her to eat as she was recently homeless and people in the area have been helping her out. On Sept. 13, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 200 block of Kessler for a male subject walking down the road in the 200 block of Kessler. Individual had just go off work from Taco bell and was walking home.
Traffic Stop
Sept. 11, Officer Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for following too closely. A citation was issued. On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding going 46 in 35. Citation issued. On Sept. 11, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding. Warning was issued On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Kessler for defective headlamp. Driver received a citation for expired registration from May 2022.
On Sept. 12, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver advised officer that he thought he was being pulled over for being on his cell phone. A citation for speeding in a school zone and a warning for expired registration.
On Sept. 12, Mills stopped a vehicle at Wolters and Baumgarten for speeding and after following the vehicle and acting suspicious with driving in circles, the driver was unlicensed. Citation was issued.
On Sept. 13, Mills stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance, speeding in a school zone and a warning for an expired drivers license. Officer Mills detected an odor of burned marijuana and conducted probable cause search of vehicle and located marijuana in center console. Marijuana was confiscated and processed in evidence to be destroyed. In the interest of justice, driver was not charged for possession of marijuana.
On Sept. 14, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Summit for no license plate light. Citation was issued for no insurance and expired registration.
On Sept. 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.
On Sept. 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued for going 42 in a 25 mph zone.
On Sept. 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.
On Sept. 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for expired registration.
On Sept. 14, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 40 block of Kessler for obscured license plate. The driver issued a verbal warning. On Sept. 14, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation was issued.
On Sept.15, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. On Sept. 15, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. On Sept. 15, Powe stopped a vehicle for expired registration, April of 2022. A search was conducted and driver and passenger were arrested. On Sept. 14, Powe stopped a vehicle for defective lamp and consent to search was conducted and nothing located. Driver received a warning.
On Sept. 15, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for expired registration (8-22) Driver received a warning. On Sept. 15, Powe initiated a stop for expired registration (5-- 22) Driver received a citation for expired registration and no insurance.
On Sept. 15, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 80 block of Kessler for driving without lights when required. A warning was issued. On Sept. 16, Mills stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. A citation for speeding was issued.
On Sept. 16, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Kessler for unregistered vehicle. Driver received a citation for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and unauthorized reproduction of a temporary tag.
On Sept. 16, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of I-10 for unauthorized reproduction purchase use or sale of a temporary tag Driver was arrested.
