Schulenburg Police Chief Reports on Early March Activity

Police Report

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 5-11.

Assault

On March 9, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 300 block of Bucek where caller advised of an assault. Upon arrival Schulenburg ISD had handled the situation.

Agency Assist

On March 11, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 600 block of FM 2672 in regard to persons knocking on resident’s doors. Officer checked the area and was unable to locate any one.

Animal Complaint

On March 6, Code Enforcement Animal Control Officer Gina Harden reached out via text message about a dog having no visible food or water. The pet owner had placed them in high grass where officer could not see them.

On March 6, Harden was advised by property owner that he had trapped a cat. Officer Harden picked up the cat and released into a safe area.

On March 8, Harden received a call about a stray dog in the 700 block of Baumgarten. Officer arrived and found a large gray Pit-bull with a pink nose wearing a faded blue collar in a kennel. Officer placed the dog in the city pound.

On March 10, Harden received a call about a Boston terrier tied to a treadmill in the 700 block of Simpson. Officer arrived on location and there were two people present and dog was on treadmill and one woman sitting on the porch and one man using a punching bag in the front yard.

On March 10, Harden received a text in regard to a cat that had been trapped. Officer Harden picked up a large orange/ white male cat and took to the Flatonia vet for the TNR program.

Accident

On March 7, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 57 block of N. Kessler for a twovehicle accident. Driver of one of the vehicles was issue a citation for making a wide right turn.

Civil Matter

On March 10, Officer MD Krenek responded to the 600 block of Upton for a civil matter. Disturbance

On March 9, Officer Juan Castilleja along with Officer Chris Kalina were dispatched to the 100 block of Huser for a possible disturbance at the Best Western. Officer’s located the room and found juveniles in town for a baseball tournament making noise. After speaking with the juveniles the officer located the coach and informed him of the incident.

On March 11, Krenek was dispatched to the 500 block of Paulus in regard to an unknown disturbance. Officer met with subjects upon arrival where one had hit the other in the head with a beer bottle.

Reckless Driver

On March 9, Vincent responded to the 300 block of Schwartz for a reckless driver at the Sports Complex. Officer located individual and advised him to slow down and he advised coach told him to hurry back. Coach talked with the driver and advised the young man would slow down.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle On March 5, Kalina was dispatched to the 1800 block of Summit for a vehicle inside of the precinct yard. Officer learned it was an employee who had got called out. Call cleared.

On March 5, Vincent checked on a suspicious person in the 14 block of N. Kessler. Traffic Stop

On March 6, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for no license plate. Driver received a citation for no insurance.

On March 6, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 39 in a 25. Driver received a citation.

On March 6, Powe stopped a driver in the 400 block of Summit for expired registration (12-22) driver received a citation.

On March 6, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in a school zone going 35 in a 25 in the 100 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a citation.

On March 6, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 37 in a 25. Driver received a citation.

On March 7, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver for disregarding a stop sign at James and Summit. A smell of marijuana was detected. Probable cause search was conducted and no contraband was located. Driver was issued a written warning.

On March 7, Krenek stopped a driver at Schultz and Ehlers for disregarding a stop sign.

On March 7, Sgt. Tobey McFadden stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding going 40 in a 25 in a school zone. Citation issued.

On March 8, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding going 46 in a 35. Citation issued.

On March 10, Krenek stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of Russek. Driver issued citation for no drivers’ license and no insurance and a warning for speeding.

On March 10, Krenek stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 800 block of Kessler. Driver issued a citation.

On March 10, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in the 800 block of S. Kessler. Driver issued a citation.

On March 11, Krenek stopped a driver in the 800 block of S. Kessler for speeding. Driver issued a citation.

On March 11, Krenek stopped a driver for speeding in the 300 block of Kessler. Warning was issued.

Traffic Hazard

On March 11, McFadden observed a broken down trailer blocking the Texan parking lot in the 25 block of N. Kessler. Wrecker was called.

Theft

On March 10, Powe responded to the 500 block of Paulus where individual stole a vehicle and in the process struck another one on private property.
