Sacred Heart Altar Society Met April 4
The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, April 4, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard reports by the secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer. Fourteen ladies attended the meeting.
Two thank you notes were read for remembrances received during the previous month.
Under the Spirituality Commission, Debbie Greene reported on dates to note regarding the Easter Season, Holy Week and Divine Mercy Sunday. The Church Preparation Co-Chair Earline Trlicek reported that preparations are going as planned for the Easter season. She also noted that Emma Proske will fill in as needed to keep the altar candles filled with oil. Finally, she informed members that the Adoration vestments are in need of replacement and that she will meet with Father Brian to look for replacements. Judy Langhamer reported that flowers had been ordered for Easter and that donations continue to come in from Parishioners. Altar vestments and altar cloths continue to be maintained as needed.
Under the Service Commission, Nina Blaha gave her report on the donations to the Clerical Endowment Fund during the previous month. She also reported that three get well cards had been sent. Barbara Schellberg reported on CEF enrollments that had been completed during February and March and that a floral cross had been presented to the family of a deceased member. Anna Boyd reminded the ladies about the upcoming work schedule for Sacred Heart at Second Chance and encouraged anyone to volunteer whenever possible.
Under the Leadership Commission, Trish Pechal reported that there were no new members at this time and that the last meeting report had been sent to the Fayette County Record.
Under unfinished business Karen thanked those who helped with the Stations of the Cross on April 1 in the area of candle bearing, cross bearing, reading and cantering.
Under new business, a discussion was held on a birthday gift for Father Brian for his April birthday. The Austin DCCW 2022 Convention was discussed with Karen asking for volunteers to serve as delegates to the convention. If no one is able to go, Judy suggested that donations for auction items could be taken to the Deanery meeting scheduled for April 26 at St. Margaret’s in Giddings. Members were encouraged to attend if possible. Groups are being formed to once again provide lunches following funeral Masses in our Parish. Discussion was held regarding suggestions for serving options and possible catering options when the number attending is higher than average.
Following this discussion, attendance prizes were drawn and distributed. President Karen Janda led the members in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, May 2, beginning at 5:45 p.m.
