    RT-Carmine ISD Winter Band Concert Thursday at Festival Hill

The Round Top-Carmine Winter Band Concert will be presented at Festival Hill in Round Top on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

RT-C boys play at Leon on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.; while the girls host Calvert at 5 p.m.

Both teams play at Richards Dec. 15 with the first game at 1 p.m.

The next games for the Jr. High teams will be on Jan. 2.

On Dec. 15, classes will be dismissed early at 12:30 p.m. to begin the winter break. Classes resume on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.

Lane of Lights

Christmas Lane of Lights continues each Friday and Saturday through Dec. 23. Dates are Dec. 15 and 16, and 22 and 23.

Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections. Santa will be there each night. Tickets are available from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290.

It is sponsored by the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.

Carmine Lions Club

The Carmine Lions Club is collecting toys for the Fayette County Deputy Santa program during December. A collection box has been placed at Carmine State Bank for anyone who would like to donate new toys for this worthy cause.

Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk through the line making their selections.

Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. They will not have a regular meeting in December.

If you plan a controlled burn, please call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to give them your name, location of the burn, and your phone number. The number is (979) 968-5856. In Washington County call (979) 277-7373.

MLLC News

The Advent service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. The theme this year is the hymn, “Joy to the World” with the second of the series titled “No more let sin and sorrow grow.” The services are led by both Pastor John David Nedbalek of Round Top and Pastor David Tinker of Carmine.

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 12 noon. Everyone is asked to bring a food item to share.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Third Sunday of Advent, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 10 a.m. A Carol Service will be presented. If you are a musician or vocalist, and would like to perform a special music piece for the service, please contact the church office.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Senior Citizens Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Visitors Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork. For more information, contact Marilyn Wagner at (979) 2774134.

Recycle Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

There is only an unmanned trailer in Ledbetter behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload in Carmine.

Birthday wishes are extended to Jordan Peters-Dec. 12; Sawyer O’Malley-13; Kelli Meinholdt-14; Kristi Wunderlich-16; Paula Barrick and LouAnn Stokes-17; and Raylon Zwernemann-18.
