RT-Carmine High School Class of 1950 Reunites
The Round Top-Carmine Class of 1950 met Sept. 23 at JW’s Steakhouse in Carmine.
Thirty-two students made up of 14 boys and 18 girls graduated on May 29, 1950. Now 73 years later, there are still 13 students living, including five boys and eight girls. Along with those listed under the photo, those unable to attend were Charles Keilers, Delvin Jaster, Allison Ponfick, and Lucile (Pietsch) Lorenz. Nineteen students have gone to be with their Lord. They are missed at every reunion.
Another class reunion is planned for 2024.
Carmine Night Out
Carmine Night Out will be held this Thurs, Oct. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Fire Station located at 118 Augsburg Ave.
Enjoy free hot dogs and drinks while getting to know your neighbors. Come hear a line-up of speakers from both the county and city. R & R Shaved Ice will be available. The kids will be given a coupon for shaved ice or ice cream. Desserts will not be needed this year.
A flag retirement ceremony will be conducted by the American Legion Post 338 and the Round Top-Carmine 4-H Club.
Names of adults only will be drawn for door prizes. If anyone chooses to do so, donations for door prizes would be appreciated.
Fire trucks will be on display and a helicopter is scheduled to arrive at 7 p.m.
It is sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce, Carmine Lions Club and Carmine Volunteer Fire Department.

Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast The Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast will be held this Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Ledbetter Community Center. Enjoy bingo games from 4-6 p.m. A fried chicken dinner for dinein or carry-out begins at 5 p.m.
The live auction starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be a country store. The Round Top Hermann Son’s Lodge #151 will donate matching funds for the country store. Delicious desserts will be sold by the Ledbetter Homemakers Club.

RT-C varsity volleyball team defeated Normangee in three sets on Sept. 19 and also defeated Fayetteville in three sets on Sept. 22, which was the first district game. It was also Faculty and Parents Night. The JV team won in two sets.
On Oct. 3, Jr. High and varsity volleyball teams play at Waelder with Jr. High at 4 p.m. On Oct. 6 JV and varsity play at McDade with JV beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Jr. High girls and boys and varsity girls and boys participated in the Festival Hill Invitational Cross Country meet in Round Top on Sept. 30.
At the Aggieland Homeschool Tournament on Sept. 15-16, Jr. High eighth-grade team won the championship game and the seventh-grade team was the runner-up.
Ag Day for fourth grade students is on Oct. 3.
Opera to Go at Festival Hill for elementary students is Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.
Oct. 9 is a school holiday for Columbus Day.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night is Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
A burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County.

Harvest Festival
The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Harvest Festival and Homecoming will be held on Sun., Oct. 15 at the Carmine Hall with Country & Western theme songs. Confirmation classes of years ending in a 3 and 8 will be recognized. Worship service with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m.
A meal of BBQ pork ribeye, sausage, baked beans, coleslaw, and German potatoes will be served as dine in or carry out from 11 a.m.12:20 p.m. A drawing will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) is held at the Ledbetter Community Center. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.
This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. In October it will be held on Oct. 15 due to the Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast being on Oct. 7.

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Confirmation class is Wednesday from 4:15 until 6:15 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor. The noisy offering will be collected.
Quilting for Camp For All is Monday at 9 a.m.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot now is open only on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are clean #1 and #2 plastic (please separate them and take note that #5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
