RT-Carmine Baseball Players Earn State Honors
The following RT-C Cub Baseball team members made the Class 1A Top 60 State List: Jacob Polasek #1 in home runs; Tanner Schobel #7 in strikeouts; Jacob Polasek #17, Hunter Schobel #40; and Kannyn Goehring #46 in batting average; Kannyn Goehring #23, Hunter Schobel #27; Tanner Schobel #32, Alexander Estrada #35; and Jacob Polasek #58 in doubles; Jacob Polasek #19 in RBIS and #40 in triples; Hunter Schobel #21, Kannyn Goehring #50, and Jacob Polasek #4 in runs; Hunter Schobel #19 in stolen bases; Tanner Schobel #22 and Kannyn Goehring #49 in wins; and Kannyn Goehring #36 and Tanner Schobel #38 in ERA.
Six Round Top-Carmine High School FFA officers and their sponsor, Erich Schatte, attended the State FFA Convention in Ft. Worth July 11-14. They were Emme Dallmeyer, Vice-President; Kimberly Rohde-Secretary; Mallory Krause-Treasurer; Bayley Pitts-Reporter; Jill Eilers-Sentinel; and Tess Eilers-Advisor.
Round Top-Carmine ISD administration offices both at Carmine and Round Top are open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
A Welcome Walk for incoming 7th graders only will be held on Aug. 11 from 5-6 p.m.
The Elementary School in Round Top will have a “Meet the Teacher” night on Aug. 15 from 5-6 p.m.
The first day of classes for the 2022-2023 school year will be Aug.17.

Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser was reported to be a huge success. More on the event later.
Regular meeting is July 28 at 7 p.m.
The burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County.
Martin Luther WELCA
The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Unit of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met July 14 at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with 8 members present – Carol Carmean, Leonita Sanders, Dianna Gerland, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Joys Baird, Sedalia Ullrich, and Nancy Eilers. The group recited the Purpose and Mission Statements.
Leonita Sanders opened the meeting with prayer.
Theresa Garlin, Treasurer, and Nancy Eilers, Secretary, were re-elected to serve a second two-year term
MISSION COMMUNITY: There have been no nursing home parties or holy communion visits.
MISSION ACTION: Quilting continues monthly. Quite a few are ready for Lutheran World Relief and there will be a Blessing of Quilts and Kits on Oct. 23 with shipment the beginning of November. The group is now working on quilts for Camp For All. A quilt has been completed for the Lutherhill Gala.
A.M.E.N. ingatherings are in May, August, and November.
Kits for Lutheran World Relief need to be assembled and packed for shipping. A couple of members used four Thrivent Action Team cards of $250 each for personal care kits for LWR, fabric for quilts for Camp For All, and fabric and sheets for LWR quilt backs. $125 was donated for personal care kits, which was used to buy towels and soap.
LWR School kits will be collected in July and Personal Care Kits in October.
Collection of cancelled postage stamps continues. They are taken to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Warda, where they trim stamps, and sell them with proceeds to LWR.
MISSION GROWTH: Salad supper was held June 1 with the theme, Celebrate Children, based on Matthew 19:14. It was an enjoyable program with songs of various countries, narrated by Diana Wunderlich and accompaniment by Nancy Eilers. Children played hand bells and sang Jesus Loves Me. Reagan Williams and Caden Tovey played their clarinet and trumpet, respectively. Delicious salads and desserts were enjoyed by 43 persons.
The Thankoffering Service will be held Nov. 13. Ideas are needed for a program or speaker.
Turkey and Dressing meal will be catered by Mantey Catering. Ticket prices will be $15 with to-go only serving from the Mission and Ministry Building. Cookies will be given with each meal in zip-lock bags.
The 2023 yearbooks will be planned and prepared by Joys Baird and Nancy Eilers in October and handed out in December.
A meeting for chairpersons of funeral serving groups will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to discuss serving and if any changes need to be made to the committees.

Becky Dunham has agreed to be in charge of the wall of crosses in the Fellowship Hall.
Mother’s Day collection on May 8 brought in $126 and was sent to Upbring and designated to the girl’s home in Canyon Lake.
There was no information on the Brazos Cluster meetings or the synod WELCA convention.

Rebekah Group Meets
The Rebekah Group meeting followed the WELCA Unit meeting with 9 members present. They were Carol Carmean, Leonita Sanders, Dianna Gerland, Diana Wunderlich, Jocie Braun, Joann Ullrich, Joys Baird, Sedalia Ullrich, and Nancy Eilers.
July birthday celebrant recognized was Susan Ray.
Dianna Gerland led the Bible study with the theme Crafted in Christ; Session Two: Cutting and Piecing. The group sang “In Christ a New Creation.”
The business meeting was called to order by Nancy Eilers, secretary.
A thank-you note was received from the family of Verline Schulte for the memorial to MLLC.
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief was held on July 11.
Items for Lutheran World Relief School Kits are being collected during July and August.
For the election of officers, Susan Ray was re-elected as president for the 2023-2024 years. Mission Community and Mission Growth are open.
The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the table prayer.

Casino Night
Casino Night sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Carmine Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. It will be German themed with an Alpine Band, chicken-fried steak meal, and drinks included.

MLLC News
Bible Study group meets Wednesday from 7 – 8:15 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship with Holy Communion observing the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
