RT-C UIL Academic District 29 Results
UIL Academic District 29 results are as follows: Calculator Applications - Kimberly Rohde 2nd and Mallory Krause 4th; Copy Editing - Faith Nance 1st; Editorial Writing - Lucy Soto 1st and Maggie Salinas 4th; Headline Writing - Rylee Handy 2nd and Sophia Nance 3rd; Mathematics - Kinsley Bage 4th; News Writing - Charlee Wessels 1st and Kaysie Ward 3rd; Number Sense - Kinsley Bage 2nd; Persuasive Speaking - Somerlin Coil 1st; Ready Writing - Jenna Hardaway 6th; Science - Kendra Pesch 3rd; Social Studies - Kannyn Goehring 4th and Jacob Polasek 5th; and Spelling - Sophia Nance 1st and Maddie Lucas 2nd. Students placing first, second, and third will advance to the Regional Competition on April 21 at Blinn College.
Round Top-Carmine baseball team hosts Somerville April 4 at 4:30 p.m. They play at Somerville April 6 at 6:30 p.m.
The Elementary School will have a Kindergarten and Prekindergarten Roundup on April 4 at the elementary school from 5 until 5:30 p.m. Eligible children who plan to attend Kindergarten or PreK at RT-C for the 2023-2024 school year are invited to attend. Children who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2023 are eligible for enrollment. Children who will be four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2023 may be eligible for the Prekindergarten class. To see the eligibility requirements for PreK, go to the www.rtcisd.net website. FFA meeting is April 6 at 6 p.m. Meetings are open to Junior FFA, FFA members, and their parents.
Varsity girls participated in the track meet at Somerville. Overall, they placed 2nd.
Results are as follows: 3200 M Run - Maggie Salinas 1st, Avery Nelius 2nd, and Kinsley Bage 5th; 400 M Dash - Kennedy Flinn 2nd, Jessica Rohde 4th, and Gretchen Sacks 8th; 1600 M Run - Maggie Salinas 2nd and Avery Nelius 3rd; 4x400 Relay - Jessica Rohde, Mallory Krause, Kennedy Flinn, and Jill Eilers 3rd; 4x200 M Relay - Makayla Smith, Mallory Krause, Kennedy Flinn, and Jill Eilers 3rd; 4x100 M Relay - Makayla Smith, Mallory Krause, Tess Eilers, and Somerlin Coil 4th; 800 M Run - Haily Johnson 4th; Shot Put Lizeth Hernandez 6th; 100 M Dash - Somerlin Coil 8th; and 200 M Dash - Jill Eilers 8th.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family of Joyce Stainer who passed away on March 17 in Arkansas. She was a former resident of Carmine. She served as a waitress at high end restaurants, worked at Methodist Hospital in Houston, and then at Shell Oil Company as a Chemical Operator before moving to Carmine. Joyce was involved with the Red Hat Club, Lions Club, Homemakers Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and her dominoes groups.
Her funeral service was held March 25 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church with burial at the Carmine Cemetery.
Baby Care Kits
Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief are being collected at MLLC. The following items are needed to complete 15 kits: Lightweight cotton T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, sweaters, or jackets, socks, and a hand towel. Sizes are 6 - 24 months.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is scheduled for April 6 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.
A reminder to place your house numbers where they can be seen at night from the road. This makes it faster for emergency personnel to respond. MLLC News
Maundy Thursday worship with Holy Communion is at 7:30 p.m. There will be First Holy Communion and a Bible presentation for several students.
Good Friday service begins at 7 p.m.
The Easter Vigil with Holy Communion is Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Resurrection of Our Lord Day begins Sunday at 6:45 with the sunrise service at the Carmine Cemetery. Bring lawn chairs.
There will be an Easter reception in the parlor before worship.
Easter Festival worship service with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. The service will be on the mllccarmine. com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
An egg hunt for children follows worship.
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
